Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1350m when GOD DAM raced wider on the track after SHEZ THE ONE improved out from the running line. It was established that Driver D Butcher had commenced his outward movement prior to GOD DAM covering his sulky wheel but SHEZ THE ONE had lay in and been slow to shift. No further action was deemed necessary. Locked sulky stays with an outside runner briefly near the 1150m. | |

SONSOFTHEMERCH - broke at the start but soon settled. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Trotted roughly under pressure before breaking inside the final 30m finishing in 4th place and was lapped on by the 5th placed runner ALANA. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(5) against the 4th placing of SONSOFTHEMERCH. After viewing the replays the connections did not contest the protest and SONSOFTHEMERCH was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards. Driver D Butcher advised that the gelding cast the near fore shoe during the running. | |

In considering this matter Stewards took into account that both horses had shifted ground in the incident. | |
MESSENGER BUOY - cast the near fore shoe shortly after the start. No action was taken against Trainer N Chilcott after both hind bandages came adrift during the event given the track conditions after it was established that they had been securely taped. | |
PERUN - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1500m. | |

DALNESS FIRST - hampered near the 1500m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver S Wigg advised that the mare had been rough in her gait throughout and had disappointed. Stewards will follow up with Ms Wigg in the coming days. | |
PETER FORSBERG - held up final turn and early stages of the run home with Driver J Abernethy not activating the deafeners as a result. | |
LOU BABY - hampered near the 1500m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. Driver P Ferguson did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field well covered. | |
LUKA DONCIC - Driver D Ferguson was warned for the manner in which he eased the pace near the 1600m which resulted in a chain reaction back through the running line with several runners being hampered. Mr Ferguson was questioned in relation to his decision to hold the parked position when challenged by NORVIC CHARLIE during the middle stages. He explained that his runner races best when driven on the pace and felt that NORVIC CHARLIE's recent form did not warrant taking a trail on that gelding. |

WHAT ABOUT ME - back from position over the latter stages of the score up despite the efforts of Driver J Dickie. Stood down for future mobile starts pending a satisfactory trial. Weakened final turn. | |
IDEAL ARTS - lost contact with the body of the field near the 1100m and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance. | |
GIMMESOMELOVIN - locked wheels with an outside runner shortly after the start and lost the leader's back which enabled NAROBI to shift down to fill that position. Weakened final turn. |
