Trainer M White advised Stewards on the 16 January that WINEMEUP has had its hocks treated since last having raced.

Trainer M White advised Stewards on the 16 January that a veterinary examination of THE RIVER BOY detected some soreness in the left knee which has been treated with the gelding continuing his preparation.

Race Comments

Race 1   NZMCA PARKING AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY TROT
The start was delayed after the field was turned out of line by the Starter due to ITBETTERBENOW not being in its correct unruly position. Driver D Butcher was issued a $200 Minor Infringement notice under Rule 858(1)(a) for delaying the start.
OWN THE MOMENT - stumbled passing the 400m and trotted roughly before weakening. Driver M Perriton was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion passing the 800m.
TOPAZ CASTLETON - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
MR MONTY - broke passing the 1100m losing considerable ground.
SUNNY ROBINSON - broke at the start losing all chance.
BUSY CANOODLING - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Weakened final turn.
Trainers were advised to affix mudguards to sulkies following this event.
Race 2   CLUBHOUSE SPORTS BAR MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed due to the removable deafeners on SEASIDE ROSE releasing prematurely in the early stages of the score up. The start was then further delayed when gear on SEA OF LOVE required attention.
CAROLINA MOON - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SHEZ THE ONE - paced roughly entering the first turn. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1350m when GOD DAM raced wider on the track after SHEZ THE ONE improved out from the running line. It was established that Driver D Butcher had commenced his outward movement prior to GOD DAM covering his sulky wheel but SHEZ THE ONE had lay in and been slow to shift. No further action was deemed necessary. Locked sulky stays with an outside runner briefly near the 1150m.
MILLION DOLLAR CHIC - held up late in the run home.
GOD DAM - raced wide early. Forced wider near the 1350m by an inside runner. Shifted in and locked sulky stays with an inside runner briefly near the 1150m before crossing to the parked position shortly after.
SPIRIT OF WAIHEKE - held up throughout the run home.
C U THERE - raced wide early.
MOLLY BELWIN - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SEA OF LOVE - Driver T Hanara reported that a sulky tyre punctured during the middle stages.
SEASIDE ROSE - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance Driver J Dickie advised that he was satisfied with the run given it was the filly's first race back from a spell along with the prevailing track conditions.
The track was downgraded to slushy following this event.
Race 3   OFF THE TRACK FOOD AND BEV TROT
TRIFOLIUM - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
HELSINGOR - broke passing the winning post the first time hampering various runners and lost all chance.
MAZEPPA - hampered by a breaking runner approaching the first turn.
CASHEM - paced off the mark losing all chance.
SONSOFTHEMERCH - broke at the start but soon settled. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Trotted roughly under pressure before breaking inside the final 30m finishing in 4th place and was lapped on by the 5th placed runner ALANA. Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 870(5) against the 4th placing of SONSOFTHEMERCH. After viewing the replays the connections did not contest the protest and SONSOFTHEMERCH was relegated to 5th placing by Stewards. Driver D Butcher advised that the gelding cast the near fore shoe during the running.
COOL PHELAN - hampered shortly after the start. Hampered again by a breaking runner entering the first turn.
STORMS ACOMING - broke shortly after the start hampering runners and losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn. Broke again near the 750m losing all chance.
PATRICK MAHOMES - swung inwards at the start but began safely.
A TROPHY WIFE - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn.
ALANA - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Hampered again by another breaking runner entering the first turn.
FLYING SCOTSMAN - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 4   CAMBRIDGE ELECTRICAL MOBILE PACE
XCITE ME - over-raced middle stages. Held up final turn and until near the 50m. Driver S Wigg was shown the replay and warned for the manner in which she shifted ground approaching the 100m which placed EXHILARATE in restricted room. In considering this matter Stewards took into account that both horses had shifted ground in the incident.
MESSENGER BUOY - cast the near fore shoe shortly after the start. No action was taken against Trainer N Chilcott after both hind bandages came adrift during the event given the track conditions after it was established that they had been securely taped.
PERUN - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1500m.
SMART AND MIGHTY - raced wide early.
TABARET - paced roughly rounding the final turn losing ground.
EXHILARATE - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Placed in restricted room by an inside runner near the 100m and had to be steadied.
Race 5   BETAVET HANDICAP TROT
CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA - broke near the 300m when leading and lost its chance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the near fore which required treatment. Stewards will follow up with connections regarding the mare's recovery in the coming days.
HUGHIE WALLACE - slow to begin losing ground.
DEL SHANNON - broke near the 250m checking a trailing runner and lost its chance. When questioned Driver L Hibell advised that she had not seen the galloping CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA until late after shifting down off ROMEO FOXTROT's back and that her gelding had galloped when she had taken hold.
KD ROYALTY - checked by a breaking runner near the 250m losing its chance.
RUBY RIDGE - broke briefly at the start. Shifted out early in the run home but was corrected by Driver B Mangos.
ULTIMATE MOMENT - broke at the start losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 200m.
Race 6   WOODLANDS STUD YEARLING SALES DRAFT MOBILE PACE
THE SURFER - paced roughly rounding the final turn.
KASHKEEPER - paced roughly for several strides near the 300m.
Race 7   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS MOBILE PACE
VICTOR BRAVO - broke near the 1900m losing ground before settling. Shifted ground outwards approaching the 100m to secure clear running.
TWO EYE SEE - commenced to over-race entering the back straight the final time. Became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of HAIL LUCIUS near the 500m and then broke briefly after contacting the sulky of MR KAPLAN with its off hind.
Race 8   NZB AIRFREIGHT TROT
TAKE THE MONARCH - slow to begin.
SWEET OLIVIA - lay out under pressure throughout the run home.
TAYLAD TO USE - when questioned regarding the performance Driver T Hanara advised that the gelding had raced keenly during the middle stages but only battled in the run home after having raced without cover throughout.
SLAINTE - weakened final turn.
NOBLE COUNT - raced wide early.
Race 9   MCMILLAN EQUINE FEEDS MOBILE PACE
NORVIC CHARLIE - hampered near the 1500m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. Raced wide without cover from the 1300m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by LUKA DONCIC.
TICKING OVER - held up final turn and early stages of the run home.
DALNESS FIRST - hampered near the 1500m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. When questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver S Wigg advised that the mare had been rough in her gait throughout and had disappointed. Stewards will follow up with Ms Wigg in the coming days.
PETER FORSBERG - held up final turn and early stages of the run home with Driver J Abernethy not activating the deafeners as a result.
LOU BABY - hampered near the 1500m when there was an easing of the pace in the running line. Driver P Ferguson did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field well covered.
LUKA DONCIC - Driver D Ferguson was warned for the manner in which he eased the pace near the 1600m which resulted in a chain reaction back through the running line with several runners being hampered. Mr Ferguson was questioned in relation to his decision to hold the parked position when challenged by NORVIC CHARLIE during the middle stages. He explained that his runner races best when driven on the pace and felt that NORVIC CHARLIE's recent form did not warrant taking a trail on that gelding.
Race 10   TOTE BURGER, BEST BET FOR BURGERS MOBILE PACE
SILVER SPOON - locked wheels with an inside runner shortly after the start.
NEXT LEVEL - broke early in the score up and was back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Raced greenly at various stages and in particular on entering the home straight.
WHAT ABOUT ME - back from position over the latter stages of the score up despite the efforts of Driver J Dickie. Stood down for future mobile starts pending a satisfactory trial. Weakened final turn.
IDEAL ARTS - lost contact with the body of the field near the 1100m and was retired from the event. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance.
GIMMESOMELOVIN - locked wheels with an outside runner shortly after the start and lost the leader's back which enabled NAROBI to shift down to fill that position. Weakened final turn.
Race 11   HIRE A VENUE AT CAMBRIDGE RACEWAY HANDICAP PACE
HOORAY HENRY - broke at the start losing ground. Lay in and contacted a track marker rounding the final turn.
NEW YORK MINUTE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
