Stewards questioned driver R Close regarding this incident and after hearing his explanation it was established that TIDE AND TIME had become awkwardly placed close to sulky of BEACH FLYBYE which had commenced to weaken and had been slow to respond to Mr Close's effort to shift wider on the track resulting in TIDE AND TIME making contact with the sulky seat of BEACH FLYBYE with TIDE AND TIME breaking. After considering the matter Stewards placed a warning on the racing record of TIDE AND TIME. Mr Close advised the gelding had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Mr Close also reported that TIDE AND TIME lost its near fore shoe during the running. | |
