Race 1   WELCOME DAVE BUTTS-RACEDAY SECRETARY TROT
THE CHASE - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened leaving the final bend.
LADY PEAK - trotted roughly in the run home and broke near the 100m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
WHATEVER IT TAKES - weakened in the run home before breaking near the 200m losing all chance. When questioned regarding the performance driver G Thornley advised the gelding had over-raced in the parked position with the effort taking its toll.
DANCING GLENIS - driver R Anderson was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. Mr Anderson advised the mare had been striking a knee and he would consider making gear changes prior to resuming.
IMPERIAL COMMAND - broke near the 400m losing all chance.
Race 2   BERNIE HUTTON MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
LORD MUDRICK - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer/driver C Butt advised the gelding had benefited from changes to its feeding regime and an increase in the horse's workload since last racing. Mr Butt was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
CHOSEN - lay inwards near the 300m when weakening briefly hampering an inside runner.
SHARE A DREAM - paced roughly in the early stages having to be restrained. Again paced roughly near the 400m hampering a trailing runner.
FLYING FOR ME - broke as the start was effected checking a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
THE MANDALORIAN - raced wide early.
CHAL VEE POWER - held up early in the run home.
DULCINEA - weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver G O'Reilly advised he was disappointed with the effort of the mare and was at a loss to explain the performance. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare in the coming days.
BIG BOYZ TOY - lay inwards throughout the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had raced greenly throughout.
ULTIMATE SEISATION - hampered near the 400m.
BAILEYS BAY - lay inwards near the 1300m striking a track marker. Briefly hampered by an outside runner near the 300m.
IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU - checked and broke at the start losing all chance.
Race 3   MOORE WALKER DAVEY SEARELLS ACCOUNTANTS PACE
The start was delayed due to HOWIE ROBYN requiring farrier attention.
FESTUS HAGGEN - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
RACINGMISSGRACIE - over-raced middle stages.
LAY ON MACDUFF - broke briefly at the start.
JUSTA DIVA - lay outwards when racing over the crossing near the 1700m.
CAPTAIN FANTASTIC - broke near the 400m hampering a trailing runner and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
THE NIGHT FOX - lay outwards leaving the final bend and in the run home resulting in the gelding shifting up the track hampering ALTA SHOWGIRL. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until driver J Dunn (ALTA SHOWGIRL) placed 3rd, had viewed a replay of the run home and elected not to proceed with a protest. Junior driver C Dalgety was shown the replay and issued with a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home in future.
FRANCO NEWPORT - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
I SPY DIAMONDS - over-raced and broke near the 1300m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
ALTA SHOWGIRL - hampered by an inside runner in the run home which shifted outwards. Paced roughly and lay inwards near the 100m.
HOWIE ROBYN - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
Race 4   THE FAMOUS GROUSE HOTEL LINCOLN TROT
RACHMANINOV - lay inwards rounding the final bend.
LOVE WALKED IN - broke after 200m losing all chance.
COSMIC ANGEL - locked wheels with DIDJABRINGTHEBUBBLES which was weakening near the 400m when racing to the inside of RACHMANINOV. Stewards questioned drivers K Butt (COSMIC ANGEL) and T Grant (RACHMANINOV) regarding this incident and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from both drivers Stewards could not apportion blame onto either driver and took the matter no further.
DIDJABRINGTHEBUBBLES - weakened from the 500m before locking wheels with COSMIC ANGEL near the 400m.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - lay inwards near the 100m having to be steadied by driver J Cox. Mr Cox advised he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord breaking.
RUTHLESS LIZZIE - slow in the early stages.
Race 5   DAKINS GROUP MOBILE PACE
HARRY BELAFONTE - when questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
ELEPHANTINTHEROOM - raced wide early. Weakened leaving the final bend.
BARNSTORMER - paced roughly and lay outwards as the start was effected hampering an outside runner.
JUDINE - hampered by an inside runner as the start was effected. Raced wide early. Held up early in the run home.
VINCENT VEGA - raced wide without cover from the 900m.
FLYAWAY - broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
WHITE STAR ORLANDO - held up early in the run home.
Race 6   CRATE & BARREL LEESTON TROT
GEORGE ELIOT - broke at the start losing ground. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no significant findings. Stewards questioned driver T Grant regarding his apparent lack of vigour in the run home and after hearing his explanation Stewards issued a charge under Rule 868(2) alleging that he failed to take all reasonable and permissible measures to obtain the best possible finishing place by failing to show sufficient vigour in the run home. Mr Grant advised he would be defending the charge and the hearing was adjourned sine die by the Adjudicative Committee.
JASPRIT TROUBLE - trotted roughly at various stages of the run home. Had to shift wider on the track near the 100m to obtain clear racing room. Driver M Heenan advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence. Mr Heenan added the gelding lost both hind shoes during the running.
WESTAR MILLY - trotted roughly after 200m. Raced greenly near the 350m after driver B Hope had activated the removable deafeners.
CRAZY N LOVE - slow to begin.
BELLEROPHONTE - broke after 200m losing all chance.
Race 7   SELWYN DISTRICT COUNCIL JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
BLUE ROCK DANCER - raced wide early. Driver R Harrison reported she sustained a punctured sulky tyre leaving the final bend.
CHRIS KYLE - driver H Sail advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
MOTOR MOUTH - junior driver A Cameron (assisted by J Dunn) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly leaving the final bend when shifting ground and striking the sulky wheel of BLUE ROCK DANCER which punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Cameron's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 16 January 2024 (3 days).
BETTOR BE SHARP - over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   PETER SMITH/DEAKS ELECTRICAL HANDICAP TROT
ROYAL DEL - broke shortly after the start losing ground. Broke again after 200m losing further ground.
GAZZA BEATT - broke over the concluding stages. Authorisation of 4th placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation and was not lapped on at the finish.
HELLOVEAMOMENT - broke at the start losing ground.
IDLE STUARTIA - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced for a distance passing the 2200m when being restrained to obtain cover. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
PARIS PRINCE - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
Race 9   PAUL RENWICK JOINERY MOBILE PACE
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - gave ground early in the run home.
DIVINE ANGEL - paced roughly as the start was effected.
FRANCO MESSI - when questioned regarding the performance driver S O'Reilly advised she was not overly disappointed and felt the gelding was better suited to a longer distance.
LORD FANTASY - raced wide early.
STRAIGHT FLUSH - trainer G Court advised the mare would be racing in foal. Raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised the mare had travelled well during the running but had failed to respond when placed under pressure and proved disappointing.
KIRKMAN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver T Chmiel. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
COMMANDER BEN - raced wide early.
Race 10   TEMPS BAR / MARK TEMPLETON MEMORIAL PACE
The start was delayed due to IZACHEAPEE becoming fractious. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
STYLE COUNCIL - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
FOVEAUX GAMBLER - broke passing the 1300m losing ground.
AMERICAN SNIPER - gave ground over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised that despite working hard in the early stages to obtain the lead he was disappointed with the gelding's effort.
GLIDING HIGH - driver J Morrison was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
LOUIS - slow early. Driver L O'Reilly was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 11   CHRIS JONES - BAYLEYS REAL ESTATE TROT
NATIVES INFERNO - lay inwards leaving the final bend.
KD HAWK - held up until late in the run home before breaking over the concluding stages.
BAFFLED - the boring pole was removed prior to the start after warming up unfavourably. Driver R Harrison advised the filly had trotted roughly at various stages in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance connections advised they were not disappointed with the effort after racing up in grade from its last start. Miss Harrison was shown the replay and spoken to advisedly to ensure she does not allow her horse to shift wider on the track leaving the final bend.
HOLLY HIGHLANDER - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
Race 12   TAYLOR STABLES / TIGERS DEN MOBILE PACE
PERAKI REACTOR - held up throughout the run home. Driver R May advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
HAYLEY'S MEDDLE - held up leaving the final bend. Lay outwards over the concluding stages having to be steadied by driver J Dunn.
SARGENT BEST - junior driver S Hill was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
SOPHIA BROMAC - raced wide early. The off side number detached during the running.
WOLF OF WALL STREET - raced wide early.
GLENGARRY MOONLIGHT - over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly near the 1000m after a slight easing of the pace.
AMERICANO - paced roughly near the 1000m after a slight easing of the pace.
TANE J J - paced roughly near the 1600m when racing to the inside of WOLF OF WALL STREET. Stewards questioned drivers K Butt (TANE J J) and B Orange (WOLF OF WALL STREET) regarding this and after hearing their explanations it was established that TANE J J had initially lay inwards to follow AMERICANO which had been forced inwards in advance of her runner and when being corrected by Miss Butt had become awkwardly placed close to the sulky of WOLF OF WALL STREET which was also laying inwards. After viewing the replays Stewards could not apportion blame onto any one horse or driver and took the matter no further.
HIT THE BEACH - broke briefly near the 1000m after a slight easing of the pace.
