Race 1   COCA COLA HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared at the first attempt due to the 15m barrier strand failing to clear MONARCH HILL.
OWN THE MOMENT - pulled hard through the middle stages. Weakened final turn.
DOLLY P - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 700m.
MONARCH HILL - swung outwards at the start briefly hampering an outside runner.
VORONOV - briefly hampered at the start. Slow early stages. Raced wide from the 950m.
NOBLE COUNT - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future stands at the Trainer's request.
GAZ MAN - lay in rounding the turns.
THAT'S WHAT WE DO - broke briefly at the start. Slow early stages.
The track was downgraded to slushy following this event.
Race 2   NZB STANDARDBRED SALES @ KARAKA 18 FEBRUARY 2024 MOBILE PACE
SUNSHINE SHELBY - raced keenly early. When questioned regarding the performance Driver P Ferguson stated that he was disappointed with the run but felt the gelding had not handled the track conditions.
MCKENDRICK - held up rounding the final turn and early stages of the run home.
CLOUDING OVER - weakened in the run home.
FIFTH AND FINAL - broke near the 1900m losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners. Lay in rounding the final turn contacting a track marker.
Race 3   HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM WOODLANDS STUD MOBILE PACE
THE ARTFUL GAMBLER - raced wide from the 700m.
IMA SPORTYANGEL - underwent a post-race veterinary examination at the request of the connections which revealed symptoms of a respiratory infection.
TENACIOUS D - pulled hard rounding the final turn and throughout the run home when held up for clear running with Driver L Hollis not activating the deafeners as a result.
DELIGHTFUL REALITY - lay in rounding the final turn contacting several track markers.
Race 4   MAGNESS BENROW MOBILE PACE
MANDOWN - weakened in the run home.
TWO EYE SEE - over-raced middle stages. Driver L Hollis reported that the near side sliding blind failed to activate along with the deafeners despite his efforts.
D J ROCK - weakened final turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to trialing on one occasion.
NELSON'S BOY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
LINCOLN RIVER - paced roughly in the early stages of the score up but was in position before the candy pole.
DANCE TILL DAWN - raced wide without cover from the 1100m when unable to secure the position outside the leader which was being held by THROWYAARMSAROUNDME.
Race 5   BRECKON FARMS JUVENILE CLASSIC MOBILE PACE
TWISTA - held up briefly final turn.
MAJOR SECRET - weakened final turn.
WHAT ABOUT ME - broke early in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the colt's barrier manners.
KASHKEEPER - hampered briefly by a weakening runner passing the 400m. Hung inwards rounding the final turn losing ground.
YOURDOINAMAZINSWEETY - shifted up the track in the run home having to be corrected by Driver T Herlihy. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Herlihy stated that he wasn't disappointed with the run given the early effort to secure the lead.
Race 6   THE BOX SEAT HOT 2 TROT FINAL HANDICAP TROT
LUBY LILL - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
SANS AU REVOIR - broke for a distance rounding the first turn losing ground.
THE RIVER BOY - briefly hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Broke shortly after losing all chance.
CYCLONE LUCKY LINDA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 500m losing ground.
CASTANA - weakened passing the 600m. When questioned regarding the performance Driver B Butcher stated that the gelding may not have been suited to being left without cover from the 1900m after no other runner had improved around as he had expected. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BREAK FREE - broke near the 750m but soon settled.
BET N WIN - raced wide early.
Race 7   LINCOLN FARMS 2023 FRANKLIN CUP HANDICAP PACE
HOORAY HENRY - weakened final turn. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with Trainer D Butcher in the coming days.
COS I CAN - tangled away.
ALLAMERICANLOVER - broke at the start but soon settled. Weakened in the run home.
AKUTA - raced wide from the 1200m until crossing to the parked position near the 600m. Co-trainer/Driver M Purdon advised he was satisfied with the performance given the 30m handicap, the mid-race effort to get handy and the prevailing track conditions.
Race 8   MAJESTIC HORSE FLOATS 2023 GREENLANE CUP HANDICAP TROT
KIMKAR DASH - trotted roughly entering the first turn and had to be steadied.
CON GRAZIA LOVE - broke under pressure passing the 150m.
SACRED MOUNTAIN - unsuccessfully contested the lead rounding the first turn.
