Race 1   CLUBHOUSE SPORTS BAR HANDICAP TROT
LIGHTNING MCQUEEN - raced clear in the lead through the middle stages. Driver J Abernethy advised he was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.
ITBETTERBENOW - broke near the 1050m losing ground but soon settled.
TRIFOLIUM - hampered by a breaking runner over the final stages.
CONRAD H - broke passing the 50m hampering a trailing runner. When questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Meredith advised that he had encountered difficulty making up ground on the strong tempo being set.
KISS MY PIXEL - connections advised the filly would be racing in season. Weakened final turn.
PLAY FOOTSIE - lay in near the 1000m and lost contact with the body of the field.
MAJESTIC BUNDY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 2   TOTE BURGER, YOUR BEST BET FOR BURGERS MOBILE PACE
PAPENHUYZEN - checked and locked wheels with BEV THE GOAT near the 300m losing all chance.
WENDY'S SHADOW - checked passing the 300m losing ground.
BEV THE GOAT - broke in the early stages of the score up however was in position at the candy pole. Paced roughly and then broke near the 300m locking wheels with PAPENHUYZEN checking trailing runners and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
CAROLINA MOON - over-raced rounding the first turn and was then checked near the 1800m when having to be restrained off the back of AMERICAN ROCKER and paced roughly for several strides. Held up rounding the final turn. Checked and broke passing the 300m losing all chance.
SEA OF LOVE - Co-trainers D & C McGowan were warned for presenting the filly to race without the notified blinds. Checked and broke passing the 300m losing all chance.
AMERICAN ROCKER - had to be steadied off the back of SEA OF LOVE near the 1800m checking a trailing runner. Junior driver N Delany (assisted by L Hollis) was shown the replay and issued with a warning for the manner in which he drove in this incident. Checked when having to take evasive action near the 300m.
Following this race the track was downgraded to Slushy.
Race 3   HAPPY NEW YEAR FROM WOODLANDS MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - Trainer S Abernethy was warned for failing to have the correct colours available. Weakened final turn.
BET WEST - Junior driver N Delany (assisted by L Hollis) admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion rounding the final turn and early in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Delany's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 4 January up to and including 26 January 2024 (4 days).
Race 4   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS MOBILE TROT
ORDAINED - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Underwent a post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination at the request of the connections which failed to reveal any obvious abnormality.
PRESIDENTIAL JEWEL - broke at the start losing all chance.
DEL SHANNON - trotted roughly near the 300m.
Race 5   NZB AIRFREIGHT MOBILE PACE
HAMPTON - Driver P Ferguson dropped his whip near the 150m.
BABA YAGA - approval was given for this runner to race in alternative colours. Slow early. Weakened from the 600m.
BEACH PARTY - weakened final turn.
OBADIAH DRAGON - sulky wheel contacted by an inside runner near the 200m.
BEAUDIENE ROCKNROLL - lay out near the 200m contacting the sulky wheel of an outside runner and paced roughly for several strides.
TURNPIKE JOE - raced wide early and middle stages before being restrained to the rear of the field near the 800m. Held up briefly passing the 200m.
NORVIC CHARLIE - broke early in the score up but was in position at the candy pole.
Race 6   OFF THE TRACK FOOD AND BEV MOBILE PACE
EXHILARATE - weakened in the run home.
Race 7   SUMMER OF RACING STARTS 7TH JANUARY @CR MOBILE TROT
There was a two minute delay to the start when ALANA underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after backing up and contacting the outside fence when parading and was cleared to race.
MAZEPPA - commenced to give ground passing the 700m. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Bublitz could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
SHESGOLD - lay in and contacted a track marker passing the 1800m and again near the 1750m with a track marker being dislodged. Driver T Mitchell was issued a warning for contacting a track marker near the 200m when activating gear. When questioned regarding the performance Mr Mitchell advised the filly had raced keenly during the running but had disappointed over the final stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
ALANA - raced wide early before crossing to the parked position near the 1600m.
SONSOFTHEMERCH - slow early losing considerable ground.
