Race 1   PETER SMITH MEMORIAL TROT
BEVRON - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
TRANSTASMAN BUBBLE - broke at the start losing all chance.
GOLD NUGGET - broke near the 400m and shifted outwards locking wheels with GRAND EAGLE losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
SCHOEMAKER - raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
RAINING IN MY HEART - trotted roughly when weakening on the final bend and lay in and struck a track marker.
BAFFLED - authorisation of 1st placing being awarded to BAFFLED (R Harrison) was withheld until Stewards had spoken to driver J Curtin (TILTHESUNSETS) placed 4th, who confirmed that despite not being given full opportunity to improve in the passing lane late in the run home his chances of finishing in a higher placing had not been affected and he did not wish to proceed with a protest. Junior driver R Harrison (assisted by J Dunn) was shown the replay and despite the filly hanging inwards causing her difficulty she was issued a warning to make a better effort to maintain a straight course in the run home and leave the passing lane clear for trailing runners. The connections advised they would be making gear changes prior to the filly's next start.
THE CHASE - broke near the 900m losing all chance.
KERRALLY - fractious prior to the start and as a result was back from its position. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke near the 700m losing all chance.
GRAND EAGLE - held up rounding the final bend. Broke near the 400m after locking wheels with GOLD NUGGET which shifted outwards when in a break losing all chance.
ZEKE - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
Race 2   COUNTRY FEASTS MOBILE PACE
HARRY BELAFONTE - initially refused to leave the pre-race formation and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up middle stages of the run home. Driver R Close advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to having the field covered.
AMBLESIDE DRIVE - held up throughout the run home. Driver S Ottley advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
ROSIE RICHTER - lay outwards and had to be straightened by its driver near the 200m.
Race 3   TAGGART EARTHMOVING PACE
THE NIGHT FOX - forced to race four wide near the 700m.
HE'S A BAY - broke after 100m and then attempted to buck for some distance hampering a trailing runner and losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
JUSTA DIVA - hampered by a breaking runner after 100m.
WAIKARI BARB - broke at the start losing ground. Raced roughly after 100m and shifted ground outwards checking AVENGER. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Driver T Williams reported the filly had got her tongue over the bit and he would be recommending gear changes prior to racing next.
AVENGER - checked and broke after 100m losing ground.
HEAVEN - broke at the start losing ground.
SOMACHBETTOR - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
THE FINISHER - slow to begin. Held up rounding the final bend.
TEN DA TOUCH -trainer B Butt was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after a hopple carrier came adrift during the running.
MEMORIES N HEAVEN - Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100m when MEMORIES N HEAVEN raced wider on the track when TEN DA TOUCH shifted ground outwards. After viewing the replays it was established that driver B Butt (TEN DA TOUCH) had commenced to shift outwards prior to MEMORIES N HEAVEN reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was required.
Race 4   KAIAPOI CLUB / CODEC SOFTWARE FOR BUSINESS MOBILE PACE
LORD MUDRICK - raced greenly racing into the first bend and lay in and struck several track markers.
LEWEY MAGUIRE - driver T Williams advised the sliding blinds were not activated due to having the field covered.
CAPTAIN FANTASTIC - lost contact with the field near the 1200m and paced roughly near the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance driver L O'Reilly advised the gelding failed to handle the grass track. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 5   JACK BEHRNS MEMORIAL TROT
The start was delayed when the gear on BONEY M required attention.
GRETTYMAC - fractious prior to the start. Held up until late in the run home. Driver R Anderson was warned to exercise greater care when shifting ground over the final stages.
STYX JEWEL - broke at the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
DIDJABRINGTHEBUBBLES - broke at the start losing all chance.
MAINBOCHER - trainer R Todd was warned for presenting the gelding in incorrect colours. Shifted outwards and broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing considerable ground. A Request for a Ruling was lodged with the Adjudicative Committee by driver R Close to determine whether the gelding had been denied a fair start after breasting the barrier strand at the start. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Close, the Adjudicative Committee declared MAINBOCHER to be a runner.
RUTHLESS LIZZIE - hampered shortly after the start and broke losing all chance.
TORVI - reared as the start was effected losing ground. Broke after 200m losing all chance.
LOVE WALKED IN - broke at the start losing all chance.
DOWNTOWN ORLANDO - broke near the 1600m losing ground. Broke again near the 1100m losing all chance.
STEELINTHEHEEL - trotted roughly rounding the final bend and broke losing all chance.
MUSCLE SASS - broke after 100m losing all chance.
Race 6   BALCAIRN STOCKFOODS HANDICAP PACE
The start was delayed due to the protest in the previous race.
A false start was declared when the 20m barrier failed to release.
A second false start was declared when the 10m barrier was slow to release and failed to clear ARIZONAWILDCAT.
KENNEDY - held up middle stages of the run home.
MEGAROCK - driver L O'Reilly advised he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
ROCKIN VA VA - held up middle stages of the run home.
BETTOR REACTION - broke at the start losing all chance.
ARIZONAWILDCAT - refused to begin losing ground.
BLUE ROCK DANCER - paced roughly rounding the final bend losing ground.

RHYME N REASON - held up early in the run home.
HEY TONIGHT - held up early in the run home.
FAST ACE - held up early in the run home.
TANGANYIKA - raced wide early. Raced wide without cover from the 1000m.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - held up throughout the run home. Driver W House advised the sliding blinds were not activated in consequence.

STRAIGHT FLUSH - held up briefly when MOTOR MOUTH shifted outwards passing the 175m.
DIVINE ANGEL - briefly paced roughly rounding the final bend.
PURE COURAGE - trainer B Hope advised the gelding has had a knee treated since last racing.

MOTOR MOUTH - shifted ground outwards in the run home briefly hampering a trailing runner. Junior driver A Cameron was issued a warning to maintain a straight course in the run home.
Race 9   NEW WORLD RANGIORA SUMMER CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
KISS THE GIRLS - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
HEZA SPORT - broke shortly after the start losing ground.
DONMARO - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer R Austin advised the gelding had broken at its last start and was down in grade from previous races. Mr Austin added the horse had begun well and received an economical run throughout at its first start on a grass track.
Race 10   NORTH CANTERBURY TROTTING HANDICAP TROT
There was a delay to the start when the field was turned away after the Starter was not satisfied with the manner in which the horses were approaching the barrier.
MASTERLY - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver B Butt advised the sliding blinds were not activated in consequence.
ANNA'S BOY - held up early in the run home.
HELLOVEAMOMENT - broke at the start losing ground.
SON OF PATRICK - broke at the start losing ground.
PARIS PRINCE - raced wide early. Broke near the 2100m losing considerable ground. Weakened from the 600m.
EUROSTYLE - weakened from the 400m. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Butt reported in her opinion the mare had not backed up after racing on Friday night at Addington. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ROYAL DEL - driver J Morrison reported he sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
UNICO VACANZA - lay outwards near the 850m.
Race 11   RACING AGAIN HERE NEW YEAR'S DAY MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared when STRIKE ME HANDSOME broke in the score up checking a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver G Hunt elected to move to the unruly position for the restart where the gelding will remain for future mobile starts.
STRIKE ME HANDSOME - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1500m.
BIG MAMA MORRIS - held up over the concluding stages.
FLYAWAY - over-raced near the 1500m having to be steadied resulting in an easing of the pace with trailing runners being hampered.
JULIETTE SHARD - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1500m. Held up early in the run home.
FULL OF DESIRE - raced wide early.
