HAIL STONE - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Trotted roughly near the 750m.
WHATEVER IT TAKES - fractious prior to the start. Broke after 100m losing ground. Broke again passing the 120m.
QUERCUS RUBRA - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again at the 1400m losing all chance.
LADY PEAK - broke at the start hampering a trailing runner and losing ground. Broke again passing the 200m.
BRIANNA - broke briefly at the start and was hampered shortly after by a breaking runner.
ALL CONQUERED - broke at the 1500m losing considerable ground. Broke again over the concluding stages. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
TO HILL AND BACK - broke passing the 1400m losing all chance.
Race 2   MERRY CHRISTMAS FROM THE OAMARU HRC MOBILE PACE
MECHANICAL BULL - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
KARDASHIAN - when questioned regarding the performance driver C Thornley advised he was very disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation.
THE NEXT BEST THING - hampered by a breaking runner shortly after the start. Paced roughly over the concluding stages.
Race 3   DAVID OVENS BUILDING PACE
GLIDING HIGH - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
SONADORA - over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
ROCKIN VA VA - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early in the run home.
TACT TEEL - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages.
FOVEAUX GAMBLER - broke at the start losing ground.
ZIA BROMAC - tangled away.

JUSTA LILY - weakened from the 600m. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the filly.
LOCHIEL LAD - broke in the initial stages of the score up however was in position at the start. Broke again shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke on a further occasion passing the 600m losing all chance. Trainer/driver J Cox advised he would give consideration to restricting the gelding to all weather tracks in the immediate future.
TITIAN FRANCO - hampered by a breaking runner near the 400m.
HENRY WINKLER - hung outwards in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke near the 400m and shifted ground outwards hampering a trailing runner. Driver M Smolenski was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
Race 5   EMPIRE CITY 'GROUP 1 ACE OF HEARTS WINNER' HANDICAP TROT
JORDAN ANNE - late scratching at 10.10am on Veterinary advice.
CODY BANNER - broke passing the 1100m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
THE DOMINATOR - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1700m and broke again shortly after. Cast a shoe on the first bend.
Race 6   PLACEMAKERS HANDICAP PACE
WILLISON - broke at the start and shifted inwards hampering a trailing runner losing ground.
CHRIS KYLE - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced early and middle stages. Driver S Thornley was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
MAREN FRANCO - broke briefly at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
HAZER - hampered by a breaking runner at the start. Over-raced middle stages.
Race 7   ONE SMART COFFEE TROT
TOP POCKET CHANCE - hampered by a breaking runner after 250m and broke shortly after when racing over the crossing at the 1650m losing all chance and was retired from the race.
GRANNY ROSE - hung inwards and broke after 250m checking and hampering trailing runners losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
CLYDE - broke shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Hampered by breaking runners at the 1650m.
FULL OF HOPE - hampered by a breaking runner after 250m.
WHISPERING OVER - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
LINE A LOVE - tangled away. Became unbalanced racing over the crossing near the 1650m becoming awkwardly placed close to the sulky of NUBLIAH CHAMAY and broke briefly. Raced wide from the 900m.
WINNING BONES - began awkwardly. Driver K Bublitz reported he received a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
COSMIC ANGEL - checked and broke after 250m losing all chance.
BARRYTOWN - hampered shortly after the start by a breaking runner. Broke racing over the crossing at the 1650m losing all chance.
PRINCE RANIER - hampered by a breaking runner after 250m.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - hampered by breaking runners at the 1650m.
Race 8   DAVID REID HOMES WAITAKI - SOUTH CANTERBURY MOBILE PACE
EDDIE JAMES - had to be restrained after the crossing at the 1650m when awkwardly placed to the inside of TABASCO.
LOUIS - paced roughly rounding the final bend and lost ground.
TABASCO - Stewards questioned driver B Williamson in relation to the manner he drove approaching the crossing at the 1650m which allowed CLASSIC MISSION to take up a position one off the fence. After hearing his explanation Stewards adjourned the matter for further consideration.
EL CHICO - broke after 150m when racing to the inside of TANE J J hampering a trailing runner losing ground. Paced roughly rounding the final bend when weakening. Stewards questioned drivers M Smolenski (EL CHICO) and J Cox (TANE J J) regarding EL CHICO breaking and after hearing their explanations, Stewards adjourned the enquiry until the Rangiora HRC meeting on 17 December 2023.
ONELOVEONELIFE - over-raced early stages and then hampered by a breaking runner after 150m. Raced wide from the 1100m.
Race 9   TAMA LOPER BUILDERS MOBILE PACE
FORTY WIVES - hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
ARLO MAGUIRE - hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
WOLFENSTEIN - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Hampered final bend by a weakening runner. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver M Williamson advised he was not overly disappointed given the gelding had not raced since 9 November and believed the horse would derive benefit from the race.
TAXMAN - weakened rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners.
GET IT ON - raced wide early.
EDGE SHEERAN - over-raced middle stages.
HUNTING WEIGHT - hung outwards rounding the final bend and was then held up early in the run home.
HES SANTAS EXCUSE - held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver J Cox advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
EMMA'S DELIGHT - raced wide early.
