Race 6 - 'WHAT THE HILL' NEW ZEALAND TROTTING OAKS (MOBILE TROT)
At an adjourned hearing held on 10 December, driver T Herlihy (WALKINONSUNSHINE) defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly on the first bend when failing to concede his position when being shifted inwards by driver D Ferguson (SHEZ BELLA) resulting in WALKINONSUNSHINE breaking. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions from Stewards and Mr Herlihy, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.

Race 1   EQUINE PRODUCTS NEW ZEALAND MOBILE PACE
TEMPO WARRIOR - junior driver G Thornley (assisted by D Butcher ) was questioned in relation to restraining her drive near the 1700m which allowed MAJOR TORQUE (S Ottley) to shift into the trail. After hearing Miss Thornley's evidence, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(f) alleging she drove improperly at this stage of the race when restraining her runner. Miss Thornley admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended her driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 22 December 2023 (6 days).
DANCE WITH THE BOSS - raced wide early. Shifted inwards near the 1600m placing an inside runner in restricted room. Driver M Purvis was issued with a warning.
WILLISON - had to be steadied when placed in restricted room near the 1600m.
HARRISON - raced wide without cover from the 800m.
EVANGALIST - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1200m.
SHEPHERDS DELIGHT - when questioned regarding the performance connections advised they were disappointed and it was their intention to have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results of these tests.
Race 2   IRT ACE OF CLUBS (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) MOBILE TROT
BRING ON THE MUSCLE - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung inwards passing the 1050m striking a track marker. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
TIME FOR VICTORY - held up by a weakening runner passing the 600m.
LOOK TO DA STARS - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Again broke at the 1350m losing all chance.
IMPERIAL COMMAND - weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
WILMA'S BOY - trotted roughly at various stages throughout.
DREAMS PAT - broke near the 1350m losing all chance.
Following this race the track was upgraded to Good.
Race 3   BETAVET ACE OF SPADES (2YO COLTS & GELDINGS) MOBILE PACE
REIVER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Cox. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the colt.
Race 4   K B ELECTRICS ACE OF HEARTS (2YO FILLIES) MOBILE TROT
TORQUAY STREET - lay inwards and struck track markers rounding the first bend.
EMPIRE CITY - lay inwards and struck a track marker near the 1100m.
HIGH STEP - raced wide early.
LIL WHIP - broke late in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
WE CAN HAVE IT ALL - raced wide early. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange was disappointed and unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
FLORENCE THE MACHINE - over-raced middle stages. Broke near the 300m losing its chance.
Race 5   TENNANT ENGINEERING NEW ZEALAND PACING OAKS (MOBILE PACE)
CARDI B - raced wide early.
WICKED WANDA - over-raced middle stages.
TREACHEROUS GALL - raced wide early.
MANTRA BLUE - raced wide early. Hung outwards and shifted up the track in the initial stages of the run home despite the efforts of driver Z Butcher.
YOU LITTLE BEAUTY - paced roughly final bend and early in the run home.
Race 6   EAST WEST FENCING SUMMER CUP (MOBILE PACE)
HEISENBERG - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
HEZA SPORT - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination revealed the early signs of a respiratory infection. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
SELF ASSURED - raced wide early.
Race 7   'KING OF THE NORTH' NEW ZEALAND TROTTING DERBY (MOBILE TROT)
AROHA KENNY - held up final bend by weakening runners.
WHATS WANTED - weakened final bend.
WALKINONSUNSHINE - trotted roughly approaching the 1000m. Weakened final bend.
FLYING WITHOUT WINGS - raced wide early. Trotted roughly losing ground near the 1000m. Broke near the 650m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
CONFESSIONAL - raced wide early.
NOT AS PROMISED - trotted roughly late in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide until obtaining cover near the 900m.
JULIE JACCKA - raced wide without cover from the 700m. Weakened final bend.
HIGH ENERGY - lay inwards and struck track markers rounding the final bend. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the replays and were satisfied that a clear run existed when HIGH ENERGY improved to the inside of WHATS WANTED near the 400m with placings duly authorised.
SHEZ BELLA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 650m.
CREATE TIME - connections advised the gelding would be racing without front shoes. Held up rounding the final bend.
THE IVY LEAGUE - lay inwards and struck track markers near the 900m. Trotted roughly in the run home. Broke briefly near the 150m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a laceration and injury to the right front tendon with the filly receiving treatment before being transported in the Horse Ambulance to the Canterbury Equine Clinic. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
Race 8   THE BOX SEAT ACE OF DIAMONDS (2YO FILLIES) MOBILE PACE
ANYTIME AT ALL - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 550m. Weakened final bend.
TREACHEROUS LOVE - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 550m. Held up final bend.
OUR SHANGRI LANA - broke in the score up however was in position at the start. Lay inwards and struck a track marker rounding the final bend.
ASK ME LAZARUS - raced wide early. Hampered and broke briefly near the 550m after an easing of the pace.
MADRID - when questioned regarding the performance driver S Ottley advised the filly had worked too hard in the early stages which had taken its toll.
TREACHEROUS BABY - raced greenly resulting in an easing of the pace near the 600m hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
LOUIES GIRL - raced wide early.
SPORTY MISS - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 550m. Weakened final bend.
DUCHESS MEGXIT - raced greenly and shifted inwards having to be straightened by driver Z Butcher near the 150m.
RAKLOU - weakened final bend.
Race 9   GARRARDS NEW ZEALAND PACING DERBY (MOBILE PACE)
ALMIGHTY CLEVER - weakened final bend.
JOLIMONT - shifted outwards marginally near the 40m hampering ALTA METEOR. After viewing the replays a protest was lodged under Rule 869A(2) by driver J Cox (ALTA METEOR) placed 5th, against 4th placing being awarded to JOLIMONT (D Butcher) alleging interference near the 40m. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the protest.
TRIPLE G - raced wide early. Raced wide with cover from the 1300m. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1900m when OHOKA CONNOR shifted ground outwards onto TRIPLE G. After viewing the replays it was established that driver T Williams (OHOKA CONNOR) had shifted outwards prior to TRIPLE G reaching its sulky wheel and no further action was required.
WAG STAR - held up final bend.
OHOKA CONNOR - raced wide from the 1300m.
ALTA METEOR - raced wide with cover from the 1300m. Hampered by JOLIMONT which shifted outwards marginally near the 40m.
Race 10   LIVAMOL NEW ZEALAND TROTTING FREE-FOR-ALL (MOBILE TROT)
MYSTIC MAX - broke late in the score up losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TIME UP THE HILL - hung outwards throughout the run home.
MAJESTIC MAN - lay inwards leaving the final bend striking track markers.
LOVE N THE PORT - broke passing the 70m and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against 5th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays driver M Williamson did not contest the protest and LOVE N THE PORT was disqualified by the Stewards.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed. Held up early in the run home.
EUROKASH - pre-race warmed. Broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
RACHMANINOV - raced wide early.
SMOKIN BANDAR - broke near the 350m losing all chance.
