Race 1   SMITH SEEDS LTD MOBILE TROT
STEELINTHEHEEL - trotted roughly near the 700m losing ground.
ORIGIN - late scratching at 11.00am on Veterinary advice.
BRIANNA - over-raced early stages.
FREYA - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Hope advised the filly had peaked on its run in what was its first race for three months and he expected the horse would derive benefit accordingly.
BOSS JO - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend. Broke near the 300m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
TO HILL AND BACK - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final bend. Trotted roughly near the 100m.
HIGH NOON - broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
ONE EL - trotted roughly in the score up. Continued to trot roughly when racing wide in the early stages. Hung inwards and broke near the 250m losing its chance. Driver J Curtin advised that the gelding had been hanging throughout and he would be recommending gear changes.
CIRCUS CIRCUS - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
LIL WHIP - late scratching at 7.00am at Veterinary advice.
DANCING GLENIS - broke rounding the final bend hampering trailing runners and losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. Driver R Anderson reported the mare had pulled a shoe during the running.
Race 2   PLACEMAKERS ASHBURTON LTD PACE
SOMACHBETTOR - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 800m. Weakened in the run home.
WAIKARI BARB - lay out throughout the run home.
TO RI RUBY - lay out throughout the run home.
AQUILA - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
HENRY WINKLER - broke at the start hampering an inside runner losing ground. Weakened from the 800m hampering a trailing runner. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the gelding had flipped its palate and had been making abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
HOWIE ROBYN - driver S McNally was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
THE FINISHER - began awkwardly. Paced roughly at various stages during the running.
AUDACITY - driver R Cameron advised the gelding had made abnormal breathing noises during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery with some respiratory noise. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
MY SKATJIE - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 3   METHVEN TYRE & HIRE MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed 10 minutes due to the St John personnel having to attend to a member of the public.
A false start was declared when ART JORDAN broke in the score up checking a runner on the second line after being contacted by the mobile arm. Driver J Dunn elected to remain in his allocated barrier position for the restart.
PATIRO - broke after 200m and settled at the rear. Driver C Ward was warned for using his whip free of the rein early in the run home.
ALWAYS B COCKY - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1600m. Broke briefly approaching the 600m when leading. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a fractured pastern and was treated by the Veterinarian before being transported from the course in the Horse Ambulance to the Canterbury Equine Clinic. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
RINDERCELLA - raced wide early.
SOUND OF SILENCE - raced wide throughout. Weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the gelding had been hanging causing him difficulty when attempting to improve to the parked position. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart and respiratory rate. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
HONKIN EYRE - weakened in the run home.
ROCKY LINDENNY - raced wide early. Weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery with some respiratory noise. Connections advised it is their intention to have an endoscopic examination completed and Stewards will follow up in the coming days.
STRIKE ME HANDSOME - driver G Hunt admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hunt's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 December up to and including 15 December 2023 (2 days). `
TEETAN - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke again near the 850m losing ground. Paced roughly rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver W House advised the gelding had been pacing roughly and he would be recommending gear changes prior to racing next.
Race 4   RAY MAYNE HOSE & FITTINGS MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed seven minutes by the TAB due to the delay in the previous race.
RHYME N REASON - held up middle stages of the run home.
GLENGARRY MOONLIGHT - raced wide early and middle stages before crossing to the parked position near the 900m. Driver T Williams reported a sulky tyre deflated during the running.
TOKYO ROSE - held up for clear racing room throughout the run home. Placed in restricted room near the 75m when inside runners simultaneously shifted outwards. Driver S Ottley advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
Race 5   INGOLD BUILDERS LTD TROT
PRINCE RANIER - backed away prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CALL THIS FUN - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Broke near the 300m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
CRAZY N LOVE - broke briefly near the 1800m. Broke again near the 500m losing all chance. Driver M Holbrough reported the mare had been hitting a knee and she would be recommending that spreaders be added for future races.
KOWHAI SUNSET - broke entering the first bend losing ground before settling. Broke again near the 300m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
JASPRIT TROUBLE - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again near the 250m losing ground.
TAKE AFTER ME - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after having raced at Motukarara yesterday and was cleared to start.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - broke rounding the first bend losing considerable ground.
Race 6   GLUYAS MOTORS (JUNIOR DRIVER) MOBILE PACE
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - checked by a weakening runner near the 700m and broke losing its chance.
KNOCKSHANBALLY - weakened near the 700m checking and hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards questioned driver D van Til regarding the manner in which she drove in the middle stages when persisting in a challenge for the lead. After hearing from Miss van Til, Stewards adjourned the matter for further consideration.
SOPHIA BROMAC - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
HOPE FOR LOVE - out of position at the start. Driver K Tomlinson was issued a warning. Over-raced early when being restrained to the rear of the field. Weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance Miss Tomlinson was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
KILAUEA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
BETTERTHANDIVA - Trainer G Smith was warned for presenting the mare to race in the incorrect colours.
Race 7   BAYLEYS ASHBURTON MOBILE PACE
BIG MAMA MORRIS - raced wide early. Held up early in the run home.
TIMES ARE A CHANGIN - raced wide early.
TANE J J - raced three wide without cover from the 900m. Weakened in the run home.
HEY TONIGHT - held up early in the run home.
Race 8   DANCINGINTHEDARK AT ALDEBARAN PARK GREEN MILE (MOB TROT)
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - hampered by a breaking runner near the 200m.
MAUI - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until Stewards confirmed the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages. Driver D McCormick was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
ROYAL DEL - broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CONFESSIONAL - out of position at the start. Driver P Nairn was issued a warning. Broke passing the 200m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
MYSTIC MAX - out of position at the start. Driver B Orange was issued a warning.
OSCAR BONAVENA - pre-race warmed. Out of position at the start. Driver M Purdon was issued a warning.
EUROKASH - broke near the 350m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 9   METHVEN 4 SQUARE SUPERMARKET GREEN MILE (MOB PACE)
JIMMY JAMES MAGUIRE - when questioned regarding the performance trainer B Hill advised he was disappointed with the effort and will be having blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days. Stewards will follow up the results of these tests.
MIGHTY LOOEE - lay inwards rounding the first bend having to be steadied by driver K Newman.
OHOKA CONNOR - raced wide early.
ONE CHANGE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver B Barclay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 10   HEKEAO FEED COMPANY HANDICAP TROT
BENNIE AND THE JETS - broke at the start losing ground.
WESTAR MILLY - broke entering the first bend losing ground.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Broke entering the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 1600m losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
EL CONQUEROR - fractious prior to the start causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
EMILY - broke briefly shortly after the start. Had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the early and middle stages of the run home.
TE RAPA - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
GREENBANK DON - held up throughout the run home. Driver G Smith advised he did not activate the removable deafeners and sliding blinds in consequence.
Race 11   CARRFIELD GRAIN & SEED MOBILE PACE
SZYBKA LANE - held up final bend by a weakening runner.
TALIESIN - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate. Trainer M Purvis advised he will have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
WATCH THAT MAN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Close. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend by a weakening runner.
LOUIS - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages.
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - out of position at the start. Driver J Morrison was issued a warning.
SONADORA - out of position at the start. Driver K Newman was issued a warning.
FRANCO MESSI - co-trainers B & T White were issued a warning for not having the correct colours available.
