Race Comments

Race 1   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY AMATEUR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
BENJAMIN BUTTON - Trainer S Abernethy was issued with a warning for failing to have the correct colours available. Over-raced middle stages.
BEACH PARTY - permission was granted for this runner to race in Driver M Salaivao's colours.
RIVERBOY BEN - Stewards investigated an incident racing down the back on the first occasion where RIVERBOY BEN was able to shift down on to the marker line after BEACH PARTY was steadied by Driver M Salaivao to concede the position. Driver J Brownlee admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident when shifting ground inwards when not sufficiently clear which resulted in BEACH PARTY having to be checked losing its rightful racing position. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions as to penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
BABA YAGA - hung inwards and paced roughly entering the first turn. Continued to lay in at various stages.
CONOR MCGREGOR - lay inwards early in the score up and paced roughly, however was in position at the start. Restrained to the rear passing the 1600m. Continued to lay in during the running and raced over several track markers passing the 1000m before losing contact with the body of the field. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing performance. Trainer J Abernethy advised that the horse would trial right handed before next racing at this venue.
Race 2   METALCRAFT ROOFING MOBILE PACE
LITTLE HOOFANANNY - over-raced middle stages. Lay in near the 1750m dislodging a track marker.
CHANGE TACT - hampered for a stride near the 1000m. Lay out and broke passing the 150m losing its chance. A warning was placed on the filly's racing manners.
LEO LINCOLN - raced wide early.
PERUN - back from position at dispatch. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
FREEDOM DASH - hampered by a breaking runner passing the 150m.
MAJOR JAY - broke near the 1750m when struck by a dislodged track marker losing ground, then raced three wide for a distance before unsuccessfully contesting the parked position which was being held by THE ARTFUL GAMBLER. Shifted in when Driver T Herlihy activated the deafeners approaching the 1000m placing an inside runner in restricted room briefly. Eased to the rear racing down the back the final time and then weakened. Declared a non-runner under Rule 213(1)(k) due to the unfair external influence when struck by the dislodged track marker.
Starter F Phelan was shown the replay of the initial stages of the score up and reminded to ensure that all runners carried out the correct pre-race formation procedure.
