Race 1   WOODLANDS STUD - BREEDING A BETTER FUTURE TROT
BURNING LOVE - broke passing the 160m and continued in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation against this runner's 4th placing being awarded alleging the filly had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing replays Trainer J Douglas did not contest the Protest and BURNING LOVE was disqualified by the Stewards.
ACTION PACKED - pre-race warmed. Trotted roughly shortly after the start.
FATHER ON DOWN - breached the front-line barrier strand resulting in a false start being declared. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Sent to the Unruly by the Starter where FATHER ON DOWN will remain for future standing starts.
HIGHLIGHT - slow to begin. Broke near the 800m hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
WITHOUT COMPARISON - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 800m.
Race 2   WOODLANDS STUD - COMMITTED TO NZ BREEDERS MOBILE PACE
The start of this event was delayed 3 minutes at the request of TAB Control.
ROBYNS ART - Driver K Tomlinson was issued with a warning after being late to arrive on course. Lay out rounding the bend near the 800m.
OH NO NANA - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
DEMI DARLING - over-raced in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened final bend. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of Trainer E Swain.
SHEZZA VINNY - jumped a puddle shortly after the start and broke losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
Race 3   BETTOR'S DELIGHT - THE GREATEST SIRE OF OUR TIME MOBILE PACE
TASHS BAD GIRL - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Over-raced through the middle stages.
ROBYNS SHADOW - raced greenly at various stages throughout.
SOUTHERN STARR - held up final bend.
AMERICAN MAC - Driver M Hurrell admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip & Rein Regulations that he used his whip in a continuous manner throughout the run home. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $300.
Race 4   WHAT THE HILL LEADING 3YO SIRE IN NZ FOR 2023 TROT
INSIST THE WIN - placed in restricted room by an outside runner leaving the final bend contacting track markers and breaking in consequence.
KOWHAI SUNSET - when questioned regarding the improved performance Trainer/Driver M Jones advised the gelding had benefitted from more tractable racing manners today.
BILL BOOTIT - Driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to the gelding trotting roughly in the run home.
KYLE LOCH - lay in when weakening leaving the final bend placing an inside runner in restricted room.
MAJESDIX - slow to begin. Trotted roughly in the middle stages of the run home having to be briefly restrained by Driver M Williamson.
Race 5   AMERICAN IDEAL - OVER $200 MILLION WORLDWIDE MOBILE PACE
HACKSAW RIDGE - held up final bend and various stages of the run home. Driver N Williamson reported he had difficulty steering the gelding in the run home and did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
JOANIE MAGIC - raced greenly in the score up.
MAYSON SHARD - weakened over the concluding stages.
Race 6   SWEET LOU - PROGENY ON FIRE IN BOTH HEMISPHERES HCP PACE
JABALI - weakened final bend.
AMASS - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
Race 7   DOWNBYTHESEASIDE - MAKING A HUGE SPLASH MOBILE PACE
NORTHVIEW SWEET - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m.
KENSI - hung in the score up.
REMISSION - broke when leading passing the 1100m hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly. Weakened from the 400m.
POUNAMU - broke briefly shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
GRUBSCREW - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Paced roughly passing the 500m losing ground. Paced roughly again on occasions through the run home. A post-race Veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormality. Stewards questioned drivers N Williamson (GRUBSCREW) and M Hurrell (ROBYNS HUSTLER) regarding an incident near the 500m. After hearing from both drivers, it was ascertained that whilst attempting to push out GRUBSCREW had raced greenly and was unable to do so, with the sulky stays becoming locked for a short distance. After hearing from both drivers and viewing the films, this was deemed to be a racing incident, with no further action necessary.
ASTA - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1100m. Commenced to weaken from the 1000m and was retired from the race by Driver B Orange. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG before completing one trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to resuming.
Race 8   LATHER UP - 1.46 SPEED TO BURN MOBILE PACE
BOWLEM OVER - out of position at the start despite the efforts of Driver P Hunter. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Placed in restricted room near the 600m when there was a slight easing of the pace. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
CAPTAIN STARLIGHT - hampered and lay inwards when weakening rounding the final bend then broke briefly in consequence.
RAMBLIN ROVER - Trainer B Gray was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding to race with blinds and not the notified sliding blinds. Lay in rounding the final bend and raced in restricted room close to the sulky wheel of STEP IT UP A NOTCH hampering an inside runner which broke in consequence. When spoken to regarding this Driver B Barclay advised that the gelding had commenced to over-race at that point of the race and he had to take hold when in restricted room. A warning was placed on the racing record of RAMBLIN ROVER.
MICAITLEN DENARIO - weakened over the concluding stages.
OUTBACK MAN - weakened final bend. When asked to comment on the performance Driver B Orange advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a slow recovery. Trainer T Stratford advised he will have blood tests conducted in the coming days and undertook to notify Stewards of the results.
BROOKIES PLAYER - placed in restricted room near the 600m when there was a slight easing of the pace.
SOUTH SEAS ROCK - over-raced in the early stages.
