Race 1   GARRARDS HORSE & HOUND PUKEKOHE TROT
REGAL GIRL - slow to settle early. Held up over the final 70m when unable to secure clear running in the passing lane.
ORDAINED - shifted outwards passing the 200m having to be corrected by Driver T Cameron and hampered an outside runner.
SHESGOLD - weakened in the run home. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
CASTANA - broke passing the 400m losing all chance. Driver T Macfarlane reported that a sulky tyre deflated during the running.
MELSADELE - hampered passing the 200m. Cleared from the unruly for future standing starts.
Race 2   SWEET LOU TENDER CLOSES TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
RED RACKHAM - raced greenly on straightening for the run home and then weakened.
MALEFICENCE - raced greenly in the score up and was back from position at the start. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners. Hampered approaching the winning post on the first occasion. Weakened final turn.
PENNY BLACK - raced keenly in the early stages having to be steadied off the back of RED RACKHAM then paced roughly hampering a trailing runner.
Race 3   SPEND MELBOURNE CUP DAY AT THE ALEX HANDICAP TROT
EMILY BAY - became fractious with the delay to the start. Trotted roughly early. Broke entering the first turn losing ground before settling.
BERTHA'S PRIDE - delayed the start when becoming fractious. Slow to begin. Broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Broke again rounding the first turn losing all chance. Stood down to trial on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
CHELSEA HOTEL - weakened in the run home.
DOLLY P - slow early. Weakened final turn.
MAJESTIC BUNDY - broke at the start losing ground.
MAZEPPA - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke again rounding the first turn when trailing the field and lost all chance.
LADY LARNI - broke near the 1800m losing all chance.
DHONI TROUBLE - held up early in the home straight and had to be shifted wider to secure clear running.
Race 4   FAREWELL RAY PLANT MOBILE PACE
KOURTNEY KARDASH - Driver M Ranger was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
ACUSHLA MACHREE - shifted out under pressure early in the home straight.
RIVERBOY BEN - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
YOURDOINAMAZINSWEETY - had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight.
ESCAPE ARTIST - Co-trainers B Purdon & S Phelan were issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for presenting the colt to race with removable deafeners which were not notified. This gear was removed prior to the start. Raced four wide without cover from the 700m.
BENSON DUDE - broke for several strides near the 1800m after having been steadied off the back of MANDOWN. Raced four wide with cover from the 700m.
CLOUDING OVER - Driver J Cole was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MILLIES SENSATION - held up early final turn.
Race 5   H R FISKEN & SONS HANDICAP TROT
WISHING STAR - checked and trotted roughly for a stride near the 150m.
AMERICAN MUSCLE - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
JASINOVA - authorisation of 1st placing was withheld to enable an investigation to be held into an incident near the 150m where JASINOVA shifted inwards checking WISHING STAR which trotted roughly for a stride as a result. After hearing evidence from Drivers S Abernethy (WISHING STAR), L Chin (JASINOVA) and viewing the replays Stewards did not proceed with a Protest as it was established that WISHING STAR would not have beaten JASINOVA had the interference not occurred with 1st placing being duly authorised. Dr Chin admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions, the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including the 10 November 2023 (3 days).
KD ROYALTY - broke rounding the first turn hampering a trailing runner and lost considerable ground.
THAT'S WHAT WE DO - slow early. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 1900m.
Race 6   IRT.YOUR HORSE.OUR PASSION HANDICAP PACE
MIKI SHAN - shifted out early in the run home and locked wheels with SIMPLY SAM, which was checked as a result. Driver M McKendry admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr McKendry's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 17 November 2023 (4 days).
MONTANA D J - when questioned regarding the performance Driver Z Butcher stated that he was disappointed with the gelding's effort after receiving an economical run. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
LADY OF THE LIGHT - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide early.
ARTISAN - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
SIMPLY SAM - checked and lost ground when locking wheels with MIKI SHAN early in the run home.
Race 7   FRANKLIN VETS FILLY / MARE OF THE YEAR MOBILE PACE
MHAI SURFER GIRL - Driver M White was warned for contacting a track marker near the 120m when held up for a run to the inside of LOUEZYANA in the passing lane before obtaining clear racing room approaching the 50m. In considering this matter Stewards were satisfied that no unfair advantage had been gained.
NELSON'S BOY - raced wide early.
CAULFIELD - raced wide early before improving to lead near the 1500m.
HAIL LUCIUS - over-raced middle stages.
Race 8   HAVE YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT ALEX PARK TROT
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - Driver B Hackett was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
ARADNE - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier manners.
BRIENNE - lay out racing through the straights.
PHOEBE MAJESTIC - raced wide from the 900m. Weakened final turn.
ALANA - weakened in the run home.
