SWEET TIZZY LOU - broke in the score up and was back a distance at the start. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Over-raced middle stages. Driver G Payne advised he would be recommending gear changes prior to racing next.
ROSIE RICHTER - over-raced middle stages.
Race 2   OAMARU CLUB TROT
SHEZA TRENDY ONE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 50m. Driver S O'Reilly reported the mare had trotted roughly in the run home.
HAYLEY MHOR - slow to begin.
TINKERBELLE - trotted roughly in the run home and broke near the 50m checking and hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the filly.
PORTELLI - trainer W Stapleton was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race with removable deafeners instead of the notified fixed deafeners. Driver K Hadfield was warned to exercise more care when shifting ground placing an outside runner in restricted room near the 100m. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 50m.
SCHOEMAKER - fractious prior to the start. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 50m.
KING OF DIAMONDS - trotted roughly rounding the final bend.
GARY PLAYER - broke after 100m losing considerable ground. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming. Weakened final bend.
ONE EL - began awkwardly and was slow in the early stages. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Placed in restricted room near the 100m when an inside runner shifted outwards. Checked and broke near the 50m.
MOONDANCE - broke after 150m losing considerable ground. Driver M Purvis was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
Race 3   GRAVES SADDLERY OAMARU MOBILE PACE
FLYING ASHES - weakened rounding the final bend.
PICCADILLY PETE - driver M Purvis admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
LOU'S BOY - broke near the 1500m losing ground. Broke again near the 900m losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on two occasions prior to resuming.
RAKERO SCOTTY - late scratching at 6.40pm on 14 October on Veterinary advice.
HANSOM LAD - weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
ALMIGHTY CLEVER - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after rearing and briefly falling on its hindquarters leaving the birdcage and was cleared to start.
Race 4   DAVID REID HOMES WAITAKI-SOUTH CANTERBURY PACE
The start was delayed due to KAWACTUS being fractious. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
JONTY'S BROTHER - broke at the start losing all chance. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts.
BETS ON - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
LAMARLI - checked by a breaking runner at the start. Driver T Chmiel admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Chmiel's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 27 October 2023 (3 days).
LIGHT ME UP - checked by a breaking runner at the start losing all chance.
RURAL CASH - checked and broke at the start and while in a gallop after 100m shifted inwards placing its driver in difficulty with HEAVEN being checked and dislodging driver T Williams. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of trainer E Latimer.
SOCIAL GIANT - broke and shifted inwards shortly after the start checking inside runners losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
FESTUS HAGGEN - broke briefly at the start losing ground.
BETTOR WAY - paced roughly over the concluding stages.
HEAVEN - broke at the start and then hampered shortly after by breaking runners. Checked by RURAL CASH after 100m with driver T Williams being dislodged. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the gelding was uninjured in this incident. Mr Williams was examined by St John personnel and cleared to fulfil his remaining driving engagements.
ANN OFATHOUSAND BAYS - hampered by breaking runners at the start losing considerable ground.
WHOSDREAMINGNOW - hampered by a breaking runner at the start.
MAJOR HENRY - hampered by breaking runners at the start and shifted inwards hampering inside runners.
MAJOR DISRUPTION - hampered by breaking runners in the early stages losing all chance.
Race 5   AARDIE'S EXPRESS 'ROAD TO THE CUP' MOBILE PACE
OPAWA LOUIE - weakened final bend and raced greenly striking track markers and hampering a trailing runner. When questioned regarding the performance driver T Williams advised the gelding had been hanging inwards and striking a knee. Mr Williams added he would be recommending gear changes prior to racing next. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
LAWYER GIRL - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver G Payne. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Raced wide from the 700m.
MON LANCOME - raced wide early and middle stages before improving to the lead near the 1200m.
COURAGE REACTOR - hampered by a weakening runner final bend.
EMMA'S DELIGHT - driver S Tomlinson reported the near side hopple shortener became entangled around the carrier strap after being activated.
Race 6   MATTHEW WILLIAMSON RACING STABLES TROT
MISS GRACIE - broke after 100m losing ground. Broke again near the 350m losing all chance.
A HILL TWO MENNY - trainer K Barron was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified sliding blinds. Began awkwardly.
OPAWA PEAK - trotted roughly in the run home.
TOM BRADY - trotted roughly in the run home.
KOWHAI SUNSET cleared from the Unruly for future standing starts.
MARKTHEWARRIOR - lay inwards and broke over the concluding stages. Trainer/driver M Williamson advised he would be making gear changes prior to racing next.
Race 7   DAVID OVENS BUILDING JUNIOR DRIVERS MOBILE PACE
DALNESS ARIZONA - became awkwardly placed to the back of TAXMAN and contacted a sulky wheel passing the 1300m. Junior driver M Holbrough was spoken to advisedly for the manner in which she drove. When assessing this Stewards took into account there had been no consequential effects.
SECRET COCKTAIL - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
TAXMAN - weakened from the 600m.
TOWER OF LOVE - broke near the 1300m losing ground.
JUDGEMENT BAY - lay inwards passing the 200m having to be straightened by its driver.
Race 8   BMW RACING STABLES HANDICAP TROT
SPEEDING SPIRIT - began awkwardly.
MAJESTIC JAG - trotted roughly in the run home. Driver R May advised the removable deafeners were not activated as a consequence.
BRETT'S MATE - trainer/driver K Cameron reported the gelding had trotted roughly throughout.
CODY BANNER - broke near the 1900m losing ground. Broke again near the 700m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 9   PLACEMAKERS OAMARU CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
LESTER - held up rounding the final bend. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
Race 10   STEPHEN HEFFERNAN AT PROPERTY BROKERS OAMARU MOBILE PACE
PHILADELPHIA FILLY driver A Cameron advised she sustained a damaged sulky tyre during the running.
IFYOUSAYSO - hung inwards rounding the final bend striking track markers.
KALASA - over-raced in the early stages and broke after 150m losing ground.
SZYBKA LANE - raced wide early.
BLACK PEARL - held up final bend and had difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home. Driver C Dalgety advised the removable deafeners and sliding blinds were not activated as a consequence.
DANCE WITH THE BOSS - over-raced early stages. Paced roughly over the concluding stages. Trainer/driver M Purvis reported the gelding had been striking a knee in the run home.
Race 11   RACING HERE AGAIN 9TH NOVEMBER PACE
TANZANIA - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1400m.
APATCHOFGOLD - over-raced in the early stages. Held up until late in the run home. Driver R May advised the removable deafeners and sliding blinds were not activated as a consequence.
ZIA BROMAC - late scratching at 8.30am due to transport difficulties.
THE CONQUEROR - lay outwards over the concluding stages.
GLIDING HIGH - trainer D Gillespie was issued a warning for presenting the gelding to race without the notified removable deafeners. Shifted outwards at the start crowding outside runners. Lay outwards when shifting ground rounding the final bend and became awkwardly placed close to the sulky of WOODLEA EXPLORER.
JUST MICHAEL - crowded at the start. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1400m.
HAYLEY'S MEDDLE - crowded at the start. Hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1400m.
WOODLEA EXPLORER - driver K Tomlinson was warned for the manner in which she drove near the 1400m when easing the pace resulting in trailing runners having to be steadied. Over-raced middle stages.
HES FAST AND FURIOUS - fractious prior to the start and sent to the unruly position by the Starter where the gelding will remain for future standing starts. Paced roughly near the 1400m after an easing of the pace.
SUCITRA - hampered by an easing of the pace near the 1400m. Weakened final bend.
