RAKNRUIN - broke after 100m when contacting the sulky wheel of WEHAVTIME losing ground, with a trailing runner being checked. Driver B Barclay admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250. When questioned regarding the performance B Barclay advised the filly had travelled well until the final bend however had disappointed when asked for an effort. | |
RAKLOU - checked by a breaking runner after 100m losing ground. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver P Hunter advised the filly had to work hard through the middle stages after being forced to race wide on the track by inside runners, however he felt RAKLOU would derive considerable benefit from its first run back from a spell. |

POTTER - Stewards questioned driver C Ferguson regarding the tactics he adopted passing the 1800m when electing to shift outwards and improve to the lead after initially restraining to take a trail rounding the first bend. Mr Ferguson explained that his intention had been to lead however THE WULVER had improved quickly to his outside rounding the first bend so he felt his best option was to restrain to obtain cover rather than attempt to withstand a challenge from THE WULVER and then come back around to the lead before being covered by outside runners. After considering his explanation, Stewards were satisfied his tactics were reasonable in the circumstances and took the matter no further. | |

Stewards lodged a protest under Rule 869(7B) against this runner's 2nd placing being awarded alleging the gelding gained an advantage on the final bend when racing inside track markers and thereby obtaining a run to which it was not entitled. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver S Tomlinson it was established that KNOCKSHANBALLY had been forced over track markers as a result of interference received from FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ with the Adjudicative Committee dismissing the Protest. |
