ALWAYS FLYIN - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear. Driver Z Butcher was questioned regarding the manner in which he drove early in the run home when electing to shift inwards rather than attempt to follow THE SURFER when that runner improved outwards. Mr Butcher stated that it had been the connections' intention to drive the colt with a trail, however he elected to commence to improve forward three wide near the 1100m given the slow tempo being set. He further stated that after having been able to shift down into the running line near the 400m that his runner had then paced roughly for some strides and as such he was reluctant to attempt to shift outwards and force LENNY LINCOLN wider to obtain clear running as he felt it was a better option to look for a run to the inside.
