Race 1   RAKAIA SEED CLEANING TROT
HIGH NOON - hampered by a weakening runner passing the 500m. Driver S Whatuira was questioned regarding her decision to shift inwards near the 500m and not follow the improving three wide line. Miss Whatuira advised that the gelding had trotted roughly for a distance passing the 600m and then when activating the earplugs became awkwardly placed to the inside of the improving BONEY M, this resulted in her being unable to avoid the weakening GOLD FIRE. After viewing the replays and hearing from Miss Whatuira, Stewards advised her that she is expected to show better judgment in future and not leave her drives open to query.
OSMIUM - broke at the start losing all chance.
GOLD FIRE - raced wide early. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Driver A Lethaby reported the mare had been unsuited to racing parked.
MUSCLE SASS - co-trainer D Jones advised the filly will be racing in season. Broke after 200m losing all chance.
COSMIC ANGEL - when questioned regarding the improved performance connections advised the mare had raced well two starts ago before breaking at its most recent start and were not surprised with the effort after the horse had received an economical run throughout.
BOSS JO - slow in the early stages losing ground.
ZSAZSA BINX - broke near the 700m losing all chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
DIEDRE FRANCO - broke after 100m losing all chance. The mare was placed on the unruly for future stands at trainer's request.
GOLD NUGGET - broke late in the run home.
Race 2   TARA FAMILY TRUST MOBILE PACE
A false start was declared after DESTINY DANCE broke in the score up checking a trailing runner. Driver B Butt elected to remain in his allocated position for the restart. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
PEARL'S A SINGER - driver J Curtin advised that the mare had hung badly and caused him some difficulty.
DESTINY DANCE - struck track markers near the 1700m after being crowded by an outside runner.
A GUINNESS ROCK - lay inwards placing an inside runner in restricted room near the 1700m. Over-raced middle stages. Paced roughly final bend when weakening. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
ARDEN'S PURSUIT - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R May. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a breaking runner after 100m.
MORERE - the boring pole broke during the running. This gear was inspected and found to be in satisfactory condition.
VERDUCCI - held up early in the run home.
IGETAKICKOUTOFYOU - held up by a weakening runner final bend. Raced roughly over the concluding stages.
MICHAEL EYRE - late scratching at 8.40am on veterinary advice.
O'HARA - broke after 100m losing ground hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Raced wide from the 900m.
MILEY ACE - hampered by a breaking runner after 100m.
ELEPHANTINTHEROOM - driver B Wilmott was warned for driving with his foot out of the sulky footrest over the concluding stages. Mr Wilmott advised that he dropped his whip during the score up.
Race 3   METHVEN PANEL & PAINT PACE
ALTA SHOWGIRL - broke at the start losing ground. Placed in restricted room momentarily near the 700m.
KIWI'S ROCK - shifted ground outwards near the 700m placing an outside runner in restricted room momentarily. Driver R Holmes was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in the future.
TAKE THE DEAL - weakened leaving the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver B Butt could offer no tangible reason with Mr Butt further advising that he will be reassessing the gelding's racing future.
RAISE THE DEVIL - checked and broke at the start. Weakened leaving final bend.
JONTY'S BROTHER - checked and broke at the start losing all chance.
SAILOR BOY - shifted inwards and broke briefly at the start checking inside runners. Stewards questioned drivers K Butt (JONTY'S BROTHER) and S Ottley (SAILOR BOY) in relation to the breaking of JONTY'S BROTHER. After hearing from both drivers and viewing the replays Stewards placed a warning on the barrier record of SAILOR BOY.
AMERICANO - over-raced middle stages.
MEMORIES N HEAVEN - broke after 200m losing ground. Paced roughly for a distance passing the 700m before breaking again near the 600m. Weakened leaving the final bend. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 4   JA & G TRUDGEON (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
MAKE WAY FOR GLORY - held up by a weakening runner final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised that after being held up rounding the final bend the filly failed to respond when placed under pressure. Mr Dunn further added that MAKE WAY FOR GLORY would be kept to all weather surfaces in the immediate future.
KAIRAKI CONFIDENTIAL - held up by a weakening runner final bend and early in the run home.
MATAU MARIA - out of position at the start despite the efforts of the driver J Morrison. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Paced roughly early stages.
KIWI LIGHTNING - hung outwards and weakened from the 600m.
FLOSSY REIGN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Cameron. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
BONNEY ELOISE - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on barrier record of the mare. Raced wide early.
EYELINER - broke as the start was effected. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
A ROCKN TO THE BLUES - held up by a weakening runner final bend.
Race 5   PAT & PAULINE O'REILLY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
PRINCE RANIER - held up throughout the run home.
T K NIHILATOR - checked and broke at the start losing ground. Trotted roughly and weakened final bend.
RACEY KRUSA - shifted inwards shortly after the start checking T K NIHILATOR which broke. Stewards questioned driver A Lethaby regarding the start. After hearing from Mrs Lethaby and viewing the replays, Stewards placed a warning on the barrier record of the gelding.
EL CONQUEROR - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Hampered by a breaking runner at the start losing ground.
MOSES - hampered and broke shortly after the start, then broke again after 200m losing all chance.
RANDEL HUSTON P - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 600m losing all chance.
BRETT'S MATE - trotted roughly throughout the run home. Driver K Cameron advised that he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
MAUI - held up early in the run home.
SON OF PATRICK - raced wide with cover from the 1100m then without cover from the 700m.
Race 6   McMILLAN'S NZ JUNIOR DRIVERS CHAMPIONSHIP (HEAT 6) PACE
EDDIE OSEI - broke at the start losing considerable ground.
KALASA - hampered racing into the first bend. Had difficulty obtaining a clear run throughout the run home. A veterinary examination at the request of the connections revealed a slight laceration to the jaw of the gelding which was treated.
KENNEDY - hampered racing into the first bend. Held up early stages of the run home.
HE'S A JACKALACK - broke briefly after 100m when striking a knee losing ground. Checked and broke racing into the first bend.
AMELIA ROSE - broke at the start losing ground.
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - junior driver C Hackett (assisted by T Williams) admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly racing into the first bend by shifting ground inwards when insufficiently clear of HE'S A JACKALACK which was checked and broke with trailing runners also being hampered. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Miss Hackett's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 13 October 2023 (2 days).

Race 7   MR STEPHEN PARKINSON - ORTHOPAEDIC SURGEON HCP PACE
A false start was declared when MOTOR MOUTH backed away prior to the start hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
CHRIS KYLE - placed in restricted room near the 50m when an inside runner lay outwards.
LESTER - broke at the start losing ground.
MAREN FRANCO - broke at the start losing ground. Lay outwards near the 50m placing an outside runner in restricted room.
FRANCO HOFFMAN - broke at the start losing ground.
BETTER'S TART - broke at the start losing ground.
JACK TAR - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 8   STAPLES & KIDD MOBILE PACE
HOPE FOR LOVE - over-raced middle stages. Hampered final bend by a weakening runner.
EXECUTIVE BANNER - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities.
CLAUS - over-raced near the 900m and was awkwardly placed close to the back of HOPE FOR LOVE.
TYRION - over-raced middle stages.
DON JUAN - driver M Purvis was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
HIT THE BEACH - over-raced middle stages and was awkwardly placed close to back of CLAUS when there was a slight easing of the pace. Had difficulty obtaining a clear run throughout the run home.
FLYAWAY - struck a track marker rounding the final bend. Driver S O'Reilly was issued with a warning.
Race 9   ALABAR METHVEN CUP (HANDICAP PACE)
BACH - broke at the start and shifted ground outwards hampering an outside runner and trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver J Dunn advised that the gelding had not handled the grass track.
HOMEBUSH LAD - begun awkwardly and was hampered at the start by an inside runner.
JIMMY JAMES MAGUIRE - hampered at the start. Held up early in the run home.
GOT YOU COVERED - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
AMERICAN ME - over-raced middle stages.
MO'UNGA - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced and broke passing the 2400m losing ground and continued to over-race. Weakened from the 700m.
FRANCO INDIE - connections advised that the gelding will race without front shoes. Raced wide early. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner. When questioned driver B Orange could offer no tangible reason for the performance. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Connections advised they will be having further blood tests taken in the coming days which Stewards will follow up.
SMIFFY'S TERROR - broke at the start losing ground.
HEZA SPORT - broke at the start losing ground.
ALLAMERICANLOVER - hampered at the start. Raced wide from the 600m without cover. A post-race veterinary examination at the request of connections revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Connections advised they will be having further blood tests taken in the coming days which Stewards will follow up.
ONE CHANGE - hampered at the start. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.

PHILADELPHIA FILLY - driver A Cameron was issued with a warning for using her whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
BEST TRIO - driver J Morrison admitted a breach of Rule 869(7A)(a) in that he contacted a track marker near the 400m. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100.
ANN SOPHIE - raced wide early. Weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and poor recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
JUDINE - held up early stages of the run home.
EVIDENTLY - held up over the concluding stages.
FRANCO TIM - over-raced middle stages. Raced wide from the 1000m with cover then without cover from the 700m.
