Weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate, signs of muscle tie up and lameness in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. | |

LE TWIST - raced wide early. Broke near the 1300m when contacting the wheel of BONNEY ELOISE after a slight easing of the pace losing all chance. Junior driver G Thornley (assisted by C Thornley) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging she drove carelessly near the 1300m when allowing her runner to contact the sulky wheel of BONNEY ELOISE which punctured with both runners losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge. | |

BONNEY ELOISE - sustained a punctured sulky tyre when contacted by LE TWIST near the 1300m. Eased out of the race at the 300m after the tyre came off the rim with the horse panicking and falling to the track. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the mare was uninjured in this incident. Driver W House was also unharmed. |

After considering his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(g) alleging he drove in a manner capable of diminishing his chances of winning when applying significant pressure to BUDDY REIGN through the middle stages. Mr Shand admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Shand, the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 23 October 2023 (6 days). | |
