Race 1   BROSNAN TRANSPORT (AMATEUR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
REFINE - driver M Maynard was warned for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
DOCTOR TIM - briefly locked wheels with OFF THE EDGE rounding the first bend. Driver M House was warned for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion in the run home.
OFF THE EDGE - briefly locked wheels with DOCTOR TIM rounding the first bend. Driver A Edge was warned for the manner in which he used his whip in the run home.
ROCKIN VA VA - out of position at the start. Driver C Wigg was issued a warning.
Race 2   EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES TROT
MEGS DRAGON - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
ROSE ISLE - trainer B Crothers was warned for presenting the mare to race without the notified removable deafeners.
CHUCKINGMONEYAWAY - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAINBOCHER - driver R Close reported the gelding had trotted roughly in the run home.
MISS MAVIS - broke near the 200m. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
COSMIC ANGEL - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
CREATING KASH - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Broke again near the 2100m losing all chance.
CAMERON MOR - trainer R Holmes admitted a breach of Rule 865(2) in that he presented the gelding to race with blinds and an anti-choke device which had not been notified with the Adjudicative Committee imposing a fine of $150. Weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate, signs of muscle tie up and lameness in the right hind leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
PORTELLI - broke near the 200m.
KING OF DIAMONDS - broke at the start losing considerable ground. Broke briefly near the 1900m.
ONE EL - slow to begin.
Race 3   FIRE & SAFETY TRAINING MOBILE PACE
FLYING ASHES - over-raced middle stages. Trainer T Bamford was issued a warning after the gelding lost a shoe during the running which was found to be in poor condition.
DARBY - held up throughout the run home.
KAWACTUS - over-raced early stages when attempting to be restrained. Raced wide throughout.
KID GLOVES - struck the mobile just prior to dispatch and eased. Driver J Patterson advised he received a punctured tyre in the incident. Stewards reviewed films and could apportion no blame on any driver.
FLOSSY REIGN - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Cameron. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
WAIKARI BARB - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
SWEET TIZZY LOU - broke in the middle stages of the score up hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
WAVEWATCHER - hampered in the score up and was back slightly at the start. Stewards questioned driver G O'Reilly as to whether he had been denied a fair start with Mr O'Reilly advising his chances had not been affected .
CEE WHO'S BETTOR - contacted the wheel of KID GLOVES which had eased just prior to the start. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 4   FREEMAN ROOFING TIMARU PACE
DULCINEA - shifted ground outwards near the 700m checking MAJOR HENRY which resulted in CANT TOUCH THIS being hampered. After taking initial evidence from Junior driver S O'Reilly, Stewards adjourned the matter due to driver K Cox (MAJOR HENRY) having left the course.
AMERICANO - fractious prior to the start. Broke at the start losing ground.
WHOSDREAMINGNOW - broke at the start losing ground. Raced wide without cover from the 700m.
RUSHKINOFF - fractious prior to the start. Crowded by an outside runner at the start.
WAIKAKA - shifted inwards at the start crowding an inside runner. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Thornley advised he expected the gelding would derive benefit from the outing after having to race parked in its first race day start.
MAJOR HENRY - broke at the start losing ground. Checked and broke when a runner to the inside shifted outwards near the 700m losing ground.
HEAVEN - began awkwardly.
CANT TOUCH THIS - fractious prior to the start. Hampered near the 700m when a runner to the inside shifted outwards.
ANN OFATHOUSAND BAYS - fractious prior to the start.
MILEY ACE - began awkwardly.
Race 5   EMPIRE SOCIAL CLUB (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
MACH MAJOR - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver G Smith advised the filly had trained on well after its previous start and had benefited from a better draw today and being able to race in a handier position.
LE TWIST - raced wide early. Broke near the 1300m when contacting the wheel of BONNEY ELOISE after a slight easing of the pace losing all chance. Junior driver G Thornley (assisted by C Thornley) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging she drove carelessly near the 1300m when allowing her runner to contact the sulky wheel of BONNEY ELOISE which punctured with both runners losing all chance. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.
WOODLEA DIAMOND - raced wide early. Weakened rounding the final bend.
TERROR MA SUE - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver L O'Reilly advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BONNEY ELOISE - sustained a punctured sulky tyre when contacted by LE TWIST near the 1300m. Eased out of the race at the 300m after the tyre came off the rim with the horse panicking and falling to the track. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed the mare was uninjured in this incident. Driver W House was also unharmed.
Race 6   PERFECT PACKAGING TROT
HIGH INTENSITY - broke racing into the first bend losing ground.
OPAWA PEAK - broke at the start losing ground.
MOSES - broke passing the 1000m hampering a trailing runner losing all chance.
CROWN THE MOMENT - hampered by a breaking runner near the 1000m.
WAIHEMO HANNAH - paced at the start and had to be broken up by its driver losing considerable ground.
Race 7   CARTER CONSULTANTS (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
FERGALICIOUS - held up throughout the run home.
MILOU - when questioned regarding the performance driver K Cameron advised that after electing to restrain in the early stages he was unable to improve his position after the three wide line did not progress as he had expected due to the tempo of the race.
BLACK PEARL - raced wide from the 1300m and paced roughly near the 1100m having to be steadied. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised the filly had worked hard through the middle stages with the effort taking its toll.
Race 8   BOOK YOUR XMAS PARTY HERE ON NOVEMBER 25TH HCP PACE
MEGAROCK - tangled away.
SHARDS FURY - broke at the start losing ground.
LET'S GO RINGO - lay inwards rounding the bends.
APATCHOFGOLD - broke briefly at the start. Raced wide early. Raced three wide from the 800m. Weakened leaving the final bend. Stewards will follow up in the coming days.
FOVEAUX GAMBLER - began awkwardly.
WOODLEA EXPLORER - weakened final bend.
Race 9   MAINFERT MOBILE PACE
COURAGE REACTOR - over-raced middle stages.
FINDERS KEEPERS - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after falling prior to going onto the track and was cleared to start. Driver A Cameron was warned for using her whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
BOBBY WATERHOUSE - over-raced middle stages.
BAILEYS PITCH - raced wide early. Weakened near the 600m before being hampered by a tiring runner passing the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.
EDGE OF REASON - raced wide early. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
EDDIE OSEI - raced wide throughout.
IFYOUSAYSO - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Race 10   MORRISON'S SADDLERY & FEED HANDICAP TROT
TOM BRADY - broke near the 2200m hampering trailing runners.
DD'S SUPER STUART - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2200m. Over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home. Driver C Markham was warned for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
QUIK BARBIE - broke rounding the first bend losing all chance. The connections were advised a warning had been placed on the racing record of the mare.
FULL OF HOPE - hampered by a breaking runner near the 2200m.
MM SUNSHINE - broke rounding the first bend hampering a trailing runner losing all chance. The connections were advised a warning had been placed on the racing record of the mare.
CRAZY N LOVE - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 2200m. Lay in and trotted roughly on several occasions during the running and in the home straight.
SPEEDING SPIRIT - broke near the 2100m losing ground.
PEAKNMONKEY - paced and then broke after 150m losing all chance. Broke again on a number of occasions during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
BUFFY NORTHSTAINS - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the first bend. Again hampered by a breaking runner near the 2200m.
Race 11   PLACEMAKERS TIMARU MOBILE PACE
SECRET COCKTAIL - hampered near the 600m by a weakening runner.
AIRIES GOLD - weakened from the 600m hampering a trailing runner. Stewards questioned driver G Shand regarding the tactics he adopted through the middle stages when challenging BUDDY REIGN for the lead before weakening. After considering his explanation, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(g) alleging he drove in a manner capable of diminishing his chances of winning when applying significant pressure to BUDDY REIGN through the middle stages. Mr Shand admitted the charge and after viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Shand, the Adjudicative Committee suspended his driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 23 October 2023 (6 days).
FAST ACE - held up over the concluding stages.
MELANDO CHIEF - broke near the 1100m losing all chance.
NED KELLY - raced wide early. Held up throughout the run home.
