Race 1   PROBUILD ITM MOBILE PACE
MAJOR CHEDDAR - lay outwards passing the 900m.
SHARE A DREAM - briefly paced roughly shortly after the start.
POTTER - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
CEE WHO'S BETTOR - attempted to shift outwards passing the 1400m and broke briefly after contacting the sulky wheel of A GUINNESS ROCK. Stewards spoke to junior driver S Thornley (assisted by B Orange) who advised that the gelding had proved difficult when racing keenly resulting in the contact occurring. He further stated that his runner had then over-raced for some distance when SHARE A DREAM improved to his outside. Stewards were satisfied the horse had contributed to the incident and placed a warning on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   McVICARS ITM TROT
LA DAMA - broke racing into the first bend losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly through the middle stages. Broke again passing the 200m. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised the mare had trotted roughly and hung throughout. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
CRAZY N LOVE - lay inwards rounding the final bend losing ground. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Hope advised the mare had failed to handle the bends.
CORMORAN STRIKE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
MISS GRACIE - broke racing into the first bend losing all chance.
SEBASTIAN COE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
EASY MCCARTNEY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Driver J Curtin reported the mare had shied at the outside fence before breaking.
Race 3   KAIAPOI ITM MOBILE PACE
CASINO ACTION - raced keenly when leading through the middle stages.
BRYCE'S MEDDLE - raced three wide from the 1500m. Weakened final bend.
CLASSIE LINC - over-raced middle stages.
AINT NO ANGEL - over-raced middle stages.
Race 4   DYERS ROAD ITM - ORDEAL CUP (HANDICAP TROT)
MIDNIGHT DASH - swung sideways at the start hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
LOVE N THE PORT - held up final bend.
MYSTIC MAX - began awkwardly. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange advised the gelding had trotted roughly on occasions during the running and had lost a hind shoe.
MAJESTIC MAN - lay inwards near the 1500m striking a track marker. Held up final bend.
MUSCLE MOUNTAIN - hampered at the start. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
Race 5   NEVELE R '50 YEARS OF SUCCESS' (HEAT 2) MOBILE PACE
TOKYO ROSE - driver S Ottley advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to having the field covered.
MOSSDALE MARGARET - raced three wide from the 700m.
POETRY IN MOTION - briefly paced roughly as the start was effected losing ground. Held up middle stages of the run home.
JUDINE - had difficulty obtaining clear racing room throughout the run home.
BLACK PEARL - raced four wide from the 700m.
SWEET COCO - was taken up the track and retired from the race near the 900m. When questioned regarding the performance driver C Dalgety advised that the filly had not been travelling well and he was concerned that something was amiss. A post-race veterinary and endoscopic examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
CYREN SHARD - broke briefly shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly. Paced roughly near the 200m. Driver T Williams reported the filly had felt uncomfortable in its action during the running. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
Connections advised Stewards on 15 September that SWEET COCO has recovered well following its last start and they have made gear changes to the filly in preparation for racing at Oamaru on Sunday.
Race 6   HAMPTONS ITM MOBILE PACE
TREACHEROUS BABY - the off side sliding blind failed to activate despite the efforts of driver M Purdon.
MIKI'S COURAGE - held up leaving the final bend. Broke when racing in restricted room passing the 100m hampering a trailing runner.
SONG SUNG BLUE - raced wide early. Held up throughout the run home and hampered by a breaking runner near the 100m.
HARRISON JOHN - shifted inwards in the run home when under pressure placing an inside runner in restricted room.
COMMANDER JOE - over-raced middle stages. Held up until late in the run home. Driver S Ottley advised the removable deafeners were not activated in consequence.
Race 7   AVON CITY FORD - NEW BRIGHTON CUP (STAND PACE)
The start was delayed due to MACANDREW AVIATOR requiring an adjustment to its bit after becoming fractious with the field being turned away to reassemble.
ANYTHING GOES - broke at the start losing ground.
MACANDREW AVIATOR - paced roughly early before breaking approaching the first bend losing all chance and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Trainer S Boyd advised he would be considering gear changes prior to racing next.
SMIFFY'S TERROR - broke at the start losing ground.
AMERICAN ME - broke at the start losing ground. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final bend.
REPUBLICAN PARTY - broke at the start losing ground. Raced four wide from the 600m.
Co-trainer A Telfer advised Stewards on 21 September that B D JOE has had a fetlock and coffin joint treated since last racing.
Race 8   RANGIORA ITM MOBILE PACE
JACK TAR - paced roughly passing the 100m.
Race 9   DARFIELD ITM & HILLSIDE ITM HANDICAP TROT
MIGHTY LOGAN - slow early.
IT'S SO EASY - broke briefly at the start. Weakened over the concluding stages.
SPELLS OF LOVE - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
THE BLOSS - hampered final bend by a weakening runner. Driver S O'Reilly advised the removable deafeners had failed to activate due to the cord breaking. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
OUR GOLDEN KENNY - broke near the 750m losing all chance.
OUTAMYWAY - trotted roughly at various stages during the running.
Trainer P Nairn advised Stewards on 25 September that TU TANGATA has had a hoof treated since last racing.
Race 10   BASHERS ITM & GERALDINE ITM MOBILE PACE
MOSSDALE TERRY - held up final stages of the run home.
ADESANYA - raced wide early. Raced greenly passing the 1800m when unsuccessfully challenging for the lead. Over-raced middle stages. Weakened final bend.
DOUBLE DOWN - late scratching at 9.45am after being sold.
HERB - when questioned regarding the performance driver R Close advised he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer R Todd advised he will have blood tests taken from the gelding in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
Trainer R Todd advised Stewards on 10 September that blood tests taken from HERB revealed the gelding to have a high white cell count which has been treated with the horse continuing its current preparation.
