Stewards had discussions with Club officials following concern being expressed by various Senior Drivers regarding the deep nature of the racing surface.

Race 1   BOOK YOUR CHRISTMAS PARTY AT ALEX PARK TROT
FIVE O'CLOCK GERRY - Driver C Hackett was spoken to advisedly for using her whip in a continuous manner over the final stages.
NOBLE COUNT - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the Trainer's request.
FAITH IN MANCHESTER - raced in restricted room late in the run home. Driver T Mitchell advised that the mare had lay in at this point with outside runners then shifting in marginally.
SHEZ BELLA - slow early losing ground.
WHO'S QUEEN - slow early losing ground. Weakened final turn.
ELLE BEE JAY - broke entering the first turn hampering a trailing runner and lost all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
SON OF A SUN - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first turn and broke shortly after losing all chance.
Race 2   "BROOKIES JAFFA" 100TH START TONIGHT MOBILE PACE
ALWAYS B ELITE - raced greenly passing the 150m when shifting inwards and had to be corrected.
DAY DREAMZ - checked by a breaking runner near the 1800m after having been caught wide and was then restrained towards the rear. Weakened in the run home.
LEO LINCOLN - became awkwardly placed to the sulky of OBADIAH DRAGON approaching the 1000m when there was a steadying of the pace and then raced roughly hampering a trailing runner. Driver M Ranger reported the removable deafeners were not activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
PENNY BLACK - raced greenly in the score up. Hampered near the 1000m.
ZAHRA - broke shortly after the start when appearing to shy away from the infield but soon settled.
FRISCO BAY - broke near the 1800m when racing to the inside of BROOKSIDE GIRL and checked a trailing runner before settling. An investigation was held into this incident. After hearing the relative evidence from A Poutama (FRISCO BAY), D Butcher (BROOKSIDE GIRL) and viewing the replays it was established that HEAVEN HIGH had improved to the inside of FRISCO BAY as Driver D Butcher had commenced to shift BROOKSIDE GIRL inwards to obtain a position in the running line. Mr Butcher had then taken immediate action to shift his filly back to a three wide position to relieve the pressure on FRISCO BAY with Stewards taking no further action other than to warn Mr Butcher for the manner in which he had shifted ground. Weakened in the run home.
BROOKSIDE GIRL - raced wide early.
Race 3   SWEET LOU AT WOODLANDS TENDER BY 19 OCT MOBILE PACE
BENSON DUDE - held up over the final 100m.
THE BRAVE - commenced to weaken final turn. When questioned regarding the performance Driver T Herlihy stated that it was this runner's first start back from a spell and that he would expect the gelding to derive natural benefit from the run.
CAULFIELD - held up final turn by a weakening runner.
WATCH YOUR BACK - lay in rounding the first turn.
TWO EYE SEE - Driver B Mangos admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Mangos' Driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 22 September 2023 (3 days).
WICKED WANDA - appeared to race ungenerously when clear in the lead near the 150m. When questioned Co-trainer/Driver D Ferguson stated that the filly is still relatively inexperienced but not withstanding this he was disappointed with the performance.
OHOKA ACHILLES - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
MY COPY - held up throughout the run home.
RED QUESTRO - over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
VENTURESOME ARDEN - when questioned in relation to the seemingly improved performance Driver M White advised that the gelding had been racing well but had enjoyed little luck at its previous start when having difficulty obtaining clear running. Mr White added that the horse had been suited by the solid tempo of tonight's event.
Race 4   THE ALEX BAR & EATERY HANDICAP TROT

TROT TO CHEVRON - broke approaching the 150m losing its chance.
LIAISON - lay out rounding the final turn.
Race 5   DUNSTAN HORSEFEEDS SIRES STAKES 2YO FILLIES HEAT 1 MOB PACE
LITTLE HOOFANANNY - late scratching at 2.20pm on veterinary advice.
CLASSIC ELEGANCE - weakened final turn.
SEASIDE ROSE - raced wide early.
AKATEA - when questioned regarding the performance Driver A Harrison stated that she was satisfied with the run given that the filly had been required to work to obtain the lead mid-race before then taking a trail.
TREACHEROUS LOVE - marginally back from position at dispatch.
Race 6   WHAT THE HILL AT WOODLANDS STUD F & M HANDICAP TROT
SANS AU REVOIR - broke for several strides at the start. Had some difficulty obtaining clear running in the home straight. Driver R Downey was spoken to advisedly in relation to the manner in which he used his whip on several occasions in the run home.
AARDIE'S PEAK - broke near the 1900m losing considerable ground. Commenced to weaken final bend then broke near the 300m. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
LUBY LILL - when questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver T Herlihy stated he was satisfied with the run after the filly had worked to obtain the lead during the middle stages.
LOVE ON LINE - when questioned regarding the improved performance Co-trainer D McGowan advised that the mare had worked well leading into tonight's event in what was its first race for two months after having been freshened.
KIMKAR DASH - broke near the 400m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the mare's racing manners.
LAURIES LEGACY - broke near the 300m losing all chance.
Race 7   IRT. YOUR HORSE. OUR PASSION HANDICAP PACE
MAGIC FOUR - held up over the final 100m. Co-trainer R Dunn advised that the gelding had cast the off hind and near fore plates during the running.
KAHLUA FLYBYE - Driver M McKendry had some difficulty activating the deafeners in the middle stages of the run home.
Race 8   LINCOLN FARMS MOBILE PACE
PETER FORSBERG - pulled hard middle stages. Weakened final turn.
JETHRO BODINE - when questioned regarding the performance Trainer/Driver T Herlihy stated that he was satisfied with the run after having led up and being run down late.
Race 9   DOWNBYTHESEASIDE MAKING A SPLASH F & M SERIES HT 1 MOB PACE
CLOUDING OVER - over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
SEACLUSION - tended to shift out on straightening for the run home but was corrected by Driver D Ferguson.
Race 10   ATC SUPPORTING "BLUE SEPTEMBER" MOBILE TROT
A false start was declared at the first attempt when BERTHA'S PRIDE broke late in the score up checking DREAMS PAT. A warning was placed on BERTHA'S PRIDE's barrier manners. Driver L Hollis elected to shift to the unruly for the restart where the mare will remain for future mobiles at Mr Hollis' request.
ALDEBARAN PATRICIA - locked sulky stays momentarily with MEGABAND near the 250m.
