Race Comments

Race 1   GORE WORKOUTS COMMITTEE TROT
SON OF THE CLEANER - lay out throughout the run home. Driver N Williamson reported he was unable to drive the gelding out over the concluding stages as a consequence.
HENNESSY - fractious prior to the start and refused to come up into position. Slow to begin then broke shortly after the start, losing all chance.
ACTION PACKED - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Struck a track marker rounding the final bend. Driver R McIlwrick was issued with a warning. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start events at the request of trainer A Wohlers.
CONTESSA'S PRIDE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 2   GAVELHOUSE MOBILE PACE
TACT RONIN - held up final bend and early stages of the run home.
HANSOM LAD - held up final bend and for a short distance passing the 200m. Driver R McIlwrick reported he was unable to activate the sliding blinds due to the cord becoming entangled.
CHICK MAGNET - raced three-wide without cover until reaching the parked position passing the 1400m.
MIGHTYFLYIN SUPASTAR - driver C Ferguson reported he did not activate the sliding blinds due to having the field covered.
MR TEDDY - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover.
CARBON COPY - out of position at the start. Driver T Nally was issued with a warning.
Race 3   PEBBLE BEACH NEW AT ALABAR MOBILE PACE
GRONKOWSKI - paced roughly and struck a knee shortly after the start, losing the near front knee boot. Returned to the enclosure with blood present on its near front leg. A post-race veterinary examination confirmed GRONKOWSKI to have a laceration to the knee consistent with striking itself during the running. Connections were advised the gelding was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
VAN LIBERTY - raced wide early.
HE'S A MEISTER - raced three and four wide with cover from the 800m.
MACANDREW NAVIGATOR - connections requested a veterinary examination which revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4   UDY'S GRAIN & FEED LTD / HAMIL SADDLERY TROT
JASPRIT TROUBLE - broke briefly at the start. Broke again rounding the final bend.
ANDOVER THE KEYS - lost the off-hind bell boot shortly after the start. Trotted roughly at stages throughout.
VELOCITY JET - broke over the concluding stages and failed to settle. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to VELOCITY JET under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was lapped on by RUBY SEDDON at the finish line when in a break. After viewing the replays driver N Williamson did not contest the protest and VELOCITY JET was relegated to 3rd placing by the Stewards.
RUBY SEDDON - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
ABACARDI HAZEL - lay in rounding the bends.
Race 5   WOODLANDS STUD STANDOUT SEVEN MOBILE PACE
There was a further delay to the restart when the mobile barrier required attention and was subsequently replaced.
ALWAYS ON SALE - improved wide rounding the final bend.
GLENKENICK - raced wide from the 1200m. Weakened rounding the final bend.
ITOJE - struck the mobile arm during the initial score up. A subsequent veterinary examination prior to the restart cleared ITOJE of any injury.

SUMMIT ULTRA - over-raced middle stages.
CAPTAIN MEISTER - broke in the score up and hung inwards checking an inside runner, resulting in a false start being declared. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver R McIlwrick elected to start from the Unruly position for the restart where the gelding will remain for future mobile engagements. The blinds were removed prior to the restart. Paced roughly in the score up. Broke passing the 1700m and was retired from the race by driver R McIlwrick.
Race 6   GWD / TYRELAND MOBILE PACE
HUNTING WEIGHT - Junior driver D Anderson was questioned as to whether his chances had been affected at the 150m when REFINE lay inwards with Mr Anderson advising that this had no bearing on his finishing position.
NORTHVIEW DANCE - placed in restricted room over the concluding stages when runners either side shifted ground. The drivers of SWEET TREAT (M Williamson) and JENNY GUMP (K Green) were both spoken to and reminded of their obligation to ensure they are fully clear of other runners when shifting ground.
REFINE - raced wide early. Lay inwards throughout the run home and near the 150m became positioned in the passing lane. Driver S O'Reilly was spoken to regarding the manner in which she drove from the 150m to the winning post and advised she must make a better effort to ensure the passing lane is left clear for trailing runners when racing in the lead position. In assessing this Stewards took into account that REFINE had hung inwards initially.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained to take cover, then continued to over-race through the middle stages.
JENNY GUMP - held up in the early stages of the run home.
RAKE - weakened final bend.
