ROMEO FOXTROT - hampered when attempting to avoid the galloping TAYLAD TO USE approaching the first turn and then broke when checked down over track markers losing ground. An investigation was held into this incident. After hearing the relative evidence from Drivers T Mitchell (ROMEO FOXTROT), T Cameron (TAKE THE MONARCH), M Ranger (ITAINTNECESSARILYSO) and viewing the replays Ms Ranger was reminded of her obligations in relation to crowding inside runners given similar circumstances in the future. In considering this matter Stewards took into account that TAYLAD TO USE shifted in marginally whilst in the gallop and contributed to ROMEO FOXTROT being checked down over track markers.
TAYLAD TO USE - broke shortly after the start hampering an inside runner. Crowded entering the first turn checking an inside runner. Broke again passing the 600m losing its chance.

Race 9   FRANKLIN VETS FILLY / MARE OF THE YEAR AT ALEX PARK MOB PACE
DAY DREAMZ - broke near the 600m briefly hampering a trailing runner before settling. Broke again entering the final turn and galloped a considerable distance losing its chance. When questioned Driver Z Butcher advised that the filly had galloped near the 600m after contacting the sulky wheel of SEASIDESTAR, which was racing to its outer, after having lay out which contributed to the contact occurring. Mr Butcher further explained that DAY DREAMZ had then panicked entering the final turn when in restricted room but did not attribute any blame to SAVARNA which was racing to its outside. Stewards lodged a protest against DAY DREAMZ's 4th placing under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the filly had broken in excess of 150m rounding the final turn. Driver Z Butcher did not contest the protest and DAY DREAMZ was disqualified by Stewards.
