Race 1   FESTIVAL NIGHT MARCH 31ST MOBILE PACE
SMOKIN GUN - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
THE MAESTRO - weakened from the 400m.
LOUIE V TONNE - raced wide early. Driver A Pyers will be spoken to in regard to the manner in which he used his whip near the 1000m.
NO MERCY - driver L Neal was issued with a warning for using her whip free of the rein shortly after the start.
JAZZY STYX - raced wide early stages.
DEMI DARLING - compounded near the 700m and finished a distant last. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Butcher reported that the mare over-raced during the running however, he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
CHEDDAR ON FIRE - out of position throughout the score up. A warning was placed on the filly's barrier record. Compounded from the 1400m and was beaten a distance. When questioned regarding the performance driver Z Meredith reported that he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was placed on the filly's racing performance.
CALI FRANCO - broke in the early stages of the score up but was in position prior to the start. Weakened in the run home.
BLAZE MAGUIRE - weakened in the run home.
LOUIE V TONNE - driver A Pyers was issued with a warning for using his whip free of the rein on one occasion near the 1000m.
Race 2   CONGRATS PENNY BOYLE STABLE HAND OF THE YEAR MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed for approximately four minutes due to the saddlecloth number on COTTON SOCKS having to be replaced.
VOODOO PRINCE - lay out under pressure throughout the run home.
PACING HOPE - shifted up the track late in the run home.
CLYMENUS - raced wide with cover from the 950m.
BOULTON HOME - raced keenly in the early stages when being restrained to the rear of the field. Raced wide from the 1000m. Weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
TICKING OVER - out of position at the start. Driver D Butcher was issued with a warning.
COTTON SOCKS - slow to leave the pre-race formation but was in position at the candy pole. Hampered by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
Race 3   MARION HICKEY MEMORIAL HANDICAP TROT
There was a four-minute delay when a false start was declared at the first attempt due to the 30m barrier strand failing to release.
TRIFOLIUM - broke entering the first bend but soon settled.
PETRONELLI GEE - driver S O'Reilly reported that the gelding was striking the sulky wheel discs throughout the race. When questioned regarding the improved performance Miss O'Reilly reported that the gelding had been able to capitilise from an economical run after having galloped on the final bend on 14 March. Junior driver S O'Reilly, assisted by driver D Butcher, admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when allowing her gelding to contact and puncture the sulky wheel of LOVE IS EVERYWHERE near the 300m. After viewing replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
GROOVY L'AMOUR - slow in the early stages. Commenced to weaken near the 500m. A warning was placed on the mare's racing performance.
STORMS ACOMING - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground.
LOVE IS EVERYWHERE - weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange reported the mare had sustained a punctured sulky tyre near the 300m and may not have backed up from its last start on 14 March. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
FULL OF HOPE - forced wider rounding the final bend when runners to its inside had shifted ground outwards.
HIGHVIEW ROCKN ROLL - slow in the early stages. Broke rounding the final bend losing all chance.
BREAK FREE - swung sideways when the barrier strands were released losing all chance and was retired from the race. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion from a standing start prior to resuming.
Race 4   MANAWATU HARNESS RACING CLUB COUNTRY CUP (HCP PACE)
A false start was declared at the first attempt when the 20m barrier strand failed to release.
SMOKINHOTCHEDDAR - tangled away.
CRUSADER - broke at the start losing ground. Shifted ground inwards over the concluding stages to obtain clear racing room.
RUN MASON RUN - broke at the start but soon settled.
PROVISEUR - weakened rounding the final bend.
FRANCO HOFFMAN - tangled away.
Race 5   CARTOWN MOBILE PACE
ROLLWITHIT - commenced to weaken approaching the 500m. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange reported that the mare was up in grade and in his opinion may not have backed up from its last start on 14 March. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
CHANGEAROUND - driver S Doody admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Doody's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 27 April up to and including 20 July 2023 (6 days).
RAGING WHITEBAIT - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Driver J Abernethy admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. The Adjudicative Committee opened and adjourned the hearing given that Mr Abernethy had to catch a flight back to Auckland late this evening.
SMOKIN ANNIE - held up final bend.
MANNY - driver S Abernethy was warned for allowing his gelding to shift in and dislodge a track marker rounding the final bend.
SUPERSTAR LEGEND - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was several lengths out of position at the start. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 6   NAYLOR LAWRENCE MOBILE PACE
ACESANDKINGS - paced roughly shortly after the start having to be steadied.
BEACH PARTY - driver B Orange did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
WHISKEY ON THE ROCKS - paced roughly leaving the final bend. Lay in during the early stages of the run home when attempting to obtain clear racing room.
Race 7   BE HERE FESTIVAL NIGHT MARCH 31ST MOBILE PACE
RAGING ON - over-raced in the early stages when being restrained towards the rear of the field. Weakened rounding the final bend. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
LUMINITE - restrained to the rear of the field in the early stages. Over-raced in the middle stages when being restrained away from the marker line to obtain clear racing room.
JULIETTE SHARD - over-raced in the score up. Out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier record. Weakened from the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
GRINNING AGAIN - paced roughly passing the 800m and continued to do so for some distance. Weakened in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
