Race 10 - FIRST DIRECT TAXIS MOBILE PACE
SIR BRIGADOON - the adjourned investigation was reconvened where it was established that the gelding had galloped shortly after the start and then caught the near knee boot on the hopple loop which stripped the carrier resulting in the loop dropping causing SIR BRIGADOON to stumble. A warning was placed on this runner's barrier manners.

Race 1   OXFORD & KAIAPOI CLUBS RACING SECTIONS TROT
DRAGONS SUNRISE - fractious prior to the start and then broke after the barrier was released losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future stands. Trotted roughly entering the first turn then commenced to over-race. Trotted roughly again hampering a trailing runner near the 1750m.
ROLLIE IN SHOT - weakened final stages.
MIGHTY LOGAN - shifted out over the final stages checking VIRGINIA CLOWERS. Stewards lodged a Protest under Rule 869A(2) against this runner's 2nd placing alleging interference to VIRGINIA CLOWERS over the final stages. After viewing the replays and hearing the relative evidence the Adjudicative Committee upheld the Protest and relegated MIGHTY LOGAN to 3rd place. Driver J Morrison admitted an associated charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly in this incident by allowing his gelding to shift ground. After hearing submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Morrison's driver's licence upto and including 3 February (2 days).
BRIANNA - over-raced middle stages. Weakened in the run home.
CONNIES PRESIDENT - slow early.
WITH GRACE - hampered and broke passing the 1750m losing all chance.
ROSE ISLE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
Race 2   PAPANUI CLUB MOBILE PACE
The start of this race was delayed 3 minutes at the request of the TAB control.
TYRION - hampered briefly near the 400m.
SECRET COCKTAIL - over-raced throughout. Hampered briefly near the 400m.
BONO BROWN - checked when locking wheels with UNICO ROCCIA rounding the final turn and broke losing its chance.
UNICO ROCCIA - broke rounding the final turn and shifted outwards locking wheels with BONO BROWN losing ground. A warning was placed on the gelding's racing manners.
MICHAEL EYRE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the gelding's barrier manners.
HARRY BELAFONTE - the off hind shoe was removed prior to the start. Hampered briefly near the 400m.
KILAUEA - hampered briefly near the 400m.

Race 4   OAMARU CLUB MOBILE PACE
MANZINI - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn could offer no explanation for the disappointing run. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - raced wide until crossing to the parked position near the 1300m. Weakened final turn.
TIFFANY'S LEGACY - raced wide early and middle stages.
ROCK N DIAMONDS - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear.
FAST ACE - when questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver R Cameron advised he was of the opinion that the gelding had not backed up from recent racing on the Marlborough circuit.
BEEPS - driver R Holmes reported that the off side sliding blind had failed to activate.
AMARLA - broke late in the score up losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on this runner's barrier manners. The connections advised the mare was showing signs of muscle tie up post-race. Stewards will follow up regarding the recovery of the horse in the coming days.
Caretaker trainer M Purvis advised Stewards on 3 February that AMARLA has been treated for muscle tie up since last racing.
Race 5   TIMARU TOWN & COUNTRY CLUB TROT
CALL THIS FUN - connections advised the mare would be racing in season. Hampered final turn.
TOP POCKET CHANCE - trainer C Buchan was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding without the correct number. Slow early. Broke after 150m losing considerable ground.
ANNA'S BOY - hampered by a breaking runner rounding the final turn and broke briefly losing ground.
RUTHLESS LIZZIE - hampered briefly early in the run home.
RACHMANINOV - broke rounding the final turn and was taken up the track with several trailing runners being hampered.
FOREIGNER - raced wide early.
PRINCE RANIER - trotted roughly shortly after the start losing ground.
PHOEBE K - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the Unruly for future stands at the trainer's request.
RACEY KRUSA - hampered briefly early in the run home.
SLIPPERY MISTRESS - broke shortly after the start losing ground. A warning was placed on the mare's barrier manners. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until it was confirmed that the mare had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
KAHNTDOITALONE - hampered briefly final turn.
Race 6   HORNBY CLUB (FILLIES & MARES) MOBILE PACE
WHITE DIAMOND GOLD - over-raced rounding the first turn when surrendering the lead and continued to over-race for some distance.
BETTER FLY - commenced to shift ground outwards to improve near the 1600m but was then corrected back down into the running line after THERESA LOVE improved to its outside.
PINK PANTHER POUNCE - late scratching on 28 January at 6.30pm on Veterinary advice.
KOWHAI SHADOW - locked wheels with ACENTO racing into the first turn and broke losing its chance. An investigation was held into this incident. After hearing the relative evidence from drivers G Thornley (KOWHAI SHADOW), R Holmes (ACENTO) and viewing the replays it was established that Mr Holmes had been in the process of conceding his position in the running line when being shifted inwards by KOWHAI SHADOW however his mare had over-raced contributing to the locking of wheels. Given the circumstances Stewards took the matter no further.
SZYBKA LANE - late scratching at 9.45am on Veterinary advice.
CHAMPAGNEANDWINE - driver J Morrison was warned for crossing the reins and performing a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
ACENTO - locked wheels with KOWHAI SHADOW racing into the first turn.
Race 7   RICHMOND CLUB - THE BOROUGH MOBILE PACE
ELDOLAR - commenced to weaken rounding the final turn.
PERAKI REACTOR - gave ground in the run home. Underwent a post-race Veterinary examination after the driver had reported that the gelding had made an abnormal respiratory noise during the running however no significant abnormality was detected.
U R THE ONE - held up early final turn.
MAYBE - held up early final turn.
AVA ADORE - raced wide early. Held up by a weakening runner rounding the final turn.
Race 8   NEW BRIGHTON CLUB HANDICAP PACE
CASTELO DE VIDE - connections reported that this runner has been gelded since last racing. When spoken to regarding the performance trainer/driver D Keast stated that the gelding had been shuffled back in the middle stages and failed to get into the race. Mr Keast further advised that he was pleased with the effort and expected the gelding to derive benefit from the run in what was its first race back from a lengthy spell.
MEGAROCK - broke briefly at the start.
PERAKI SEELSTER - factious prior to the start.
JIMMYRAY - broke at the start losing ground.
Race 9   RANGIORA RSA CLUB HANDICAP TROT
TEST THE BOUNDARIES - trotted roughly before breaking passing the 200m losing ground before settling. Continued to trot roughly over the final stages.
SODS LAW - broke at the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future stands.
LIL MISS MUSCLES - broke at the start losing ground.
IT'S SO EASY - lay inwards under pressure late in the run home and had to be corrected.
TROT TO CHEVRON - broke near the 300m losing its chance.
BOYZ INVASION - broke racing into the first turn losing ground.
Race 10   ASHBURTON CLUB MOBILE PACE
SISTER'S DELIGHT - held up early and middle stages of the run home with driver R May encountering difficulty in activating the removable deafeners.
FRANCO CORNEL - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn could offer no explanation for the disappointing run when weakening late after leading up. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
VRILO - raced wide from the 1400m and weakened on the final turn.
SPECIAL DREAM - had to shift ground outwards middle stages of the home straight to obtain clear running.
EVIDENTLY - raced wide early.
KINGSDOWN ATOM - had some difficulty obtaining clear running early in the home straight.
BEACH PARTY - raced wide with cover from the 1100m.
SOPHIA BROMAC - raced wide with cover from the 1000m.
Connections advised Stewards on 2 February that FRANCO CORNEL has recovered well and has continued with its preparation for racing at Amberley on Monday.
