Following the running of Race 1 trainers were directed to affix mudguards to their sulkies.

Stewards extended some leniency when assessing penalties for horses due to the prevailing track conditions.

Trainer W Fausett advised Stewards on 17 November that TABARET had recovered well from its last start in preparation for racing tomorrow at Auckland.

Race 1   CARTOWN HANDICAP TROT
PLAY FOOTSIE - broke near the 600m losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
VIVID NIGHT - the start was delayed when this gelding became fractious and charged through the 30m barrier stand. Broke rounding the first bend losing considerable ground. A final warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
BREAK FREE - trotted roughly having to be steadied passing the 150m.
OUR PEGASUS PEARL - broke at the start losing all chance. A final warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
The track was downgraded to Slushy following the running of this race.
Race 2   AAA FENCING MOBILE PACE
The start was delayed for 4 minutes due to a power outage on course.
WRIGGLES RUFUS - over-raced middle stages. Held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
MAHROCKER - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama reported that the mare failed to handle the slushy track conditions.
BET ON STEPH - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend.
DREAM PROSPECT - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend. Driver S Doody admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations in that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion on several occasions in the run home. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Doody's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing tonight up to and including 8 December 2022 (2 days).
ART ON FIRE - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend.
AMOREENA - lost contact with the body of the field rounding the first bend and throughout the race.
MY LITTLE BIG MAN - held up for clear racing room early in the run home.
ELATED - broke in the score up losing considerable ground.
COURAGE REACTOR - broke entering the first bend hampering trailing runners losing all chance and was retired from the race. Driver W House reported that the filly failed to handle the slushy track conditions.
CONSTANCE CLAIRE - hampered by a breaking runner entering the first bend.
CALI FRANCO - back from the unruly position throughout the score up. Paced roughly over the early stages and lost contact with the body of the field finishing a distant last.
Race 3   HELEN GRAY MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
ROCKNROYDON - over-raced through the early and middle stages. Commenced to weaken near the 500 metres and finished a distant last. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. When questioned regarding the performance driver A Poutama reported that the mare had over-raced during the running which had taken its toll.
VALYNDA - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Orange reported that the mare was held up by a weakening runner leaving the final bend and was satisfied with the effort.
MANHATTAN SUNSHINE - raced keenly when racing outside the leader in the early stages. Lay out under pressure throughout the run home.
THE ONLY DECISION - driver M White reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
BARBAROSSA - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
ARTFUL LIVING - over-raced during the score up. Continued to over-race during the early and middle stages. Raced three wide without cover from the 800m. Weakened final bend.
Race 4   MANAWATU ITM PALMERSTONIAN MOBILE PACE
SANTANNA MACH - over-raced early and middle stages.
PROVISEUR - when questioned regarding the performance driver B Butcher reported that the gelding over-raced during the running which proved detrimental to its chances.
ROCKIN VA VA - raced wide early.
TRINITY STAR - raced wide early before improving forward to lead near the 1900m. Lay out throughout the run home.
RUN MASON RUN - over-raced through the early and middle stages.
STAC - raced four wide from the 600m.
Race 5   BUY WHOLESALE VEHICLES MOBILE PACE
CLYMENUS - held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend.
GRINNING AGAIN - over-raced through the early and middle stages when leading. Commenced to weaken near the 400m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with trainer M House in the coming days.
MOP - over-raced middle stages.
ACESANDKINGS - paced roughly for several strides near the 650m.
Race 6   GATTSCHE CONSTRUCTION MOBILE PACE
EASY DOES IT - over-raced early and middle stages. Weakened final bend.
TALIESIN - driver B Orange reported that he did not activate the removable deafeners due to having the field covered.
VITA VELOCE - over-raced middle stages.
TICKING OVER - briefly held up rounding the final bend.
Race 7   FUTURE POSTS/MANAWATU DISTRICT COUNCIL MOBILE PACE
DARK ECLIPSE - held up rounding the final bend.
DIDJANOTHATONE - raced wide early before being restrained to the rear of the field. Weakened in the run home.
