Race 1   CATERING SOUTH CANTERBURY (AMATEUR DRIVERS) MOBILE PACE
DALNESS ARIZONA - driver N Chalmers was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
SPICY GIRL BECQUI - when spoken to regarding the improved performance trainer B Mowbray advised the mare had appreciated the drop in class of today's race and had received an economical run throughout.
NYLA - hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
RAGING ON - broke early in the score up and was a considerable distance out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
PLAY BY EAR - raced wide early and over-raced when being restrained to the rear of the field. Continued to over-race through the middle stages.
SHARDS FURY - weakened from the 700m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards questioned driver J Buckland-Stevens regarding the tactics she adopted passing the 1700m when challenging for the lead for a considerable distance. After hearing initial evidence from Mrs Buckland-Stevens, Stewards adjourned the matter for further consideration.
REFINE - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was a considerable distance out of position at the start. Driver R Sissons will be spoken to regarding this in the coming days.
WOLFENSTEIN - raced wide early. Cleared from the unruly for future mobile starts.
Race 2   FOLLOW US ON FACEBOOK.COM - TIMARU HARNESS PACE
BEACH PARTY - fractious prior to the start. Broke as the start was effected losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Placed on the unruly for future standing starts at the request of the connections.
BRICKIE'S DREAM - over-raced middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
VENTURA - broke at the start losing ground. Lay inwards throughout the run home. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation in the early stages.
CHEEKYGRIN - broke at the start losing ground.
ROCKETMAN - driver B Weaver was issued with a warning for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home. Mr Weaver advised the gelding would now be sent for a spell.
Race 3   19 NOV - BOOK YOUR XMAS PARTY AT PHAR LAP MOBILE PACE
OH NO NANA - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver S Tomlinson advised the gelding had raced parked at its previous start and had benefited from an economical run today.
EL TERROR - held up throughout the run home. Driver T Williams reported he did not activate the removable deafeners or sliding blinds in consequence.
FOURTH AMENDMENT - held up throughout the run home. Driver M Williamson reported he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
SECRET COCKTAIL - out of position at the start. Driver K Newman will be spoken to regarding this in the coming days. Raced three wide without cover from the 900m.
KILLARNEY DANCE - held up throughout the run home. Hampered by a breaking runner inside the final 100m. Driver S Ottley reported she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence. A post-race veterinary examination revealed lameness in the right front leg. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
COSMIC STAR - broke briefly in the score up and was out of position at the candy pole. Broke shortly after the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts. Broke again passing the 100m. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
ELEPHANTINTHEROOM - driver R Holmes admitted a breach of Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Holmes' driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 16 October 2022 (4 days).
Race 4   EMPIRE HOTEL (TEMUKA) SOCIAL CLUB 2YO MOBILE TROT
KISS AND RUN - trotted roughly late in the score up. Continued to trot roughly through the early stages.
CELTIC ARDEN - permission was granted for the filly to race in alternative colours.
THE IVY LEAGUE - broke shortly after the start losing all chance and was retired from the race.
WHATS WANTED - trotted roughly through the middle stages.
ONE OVER DA LINE - late scratching at 1.45pm due to transport difficulties.
HIGH ENERGY - lay in rounding the final bend.
MISS GRACIE - paced in the score up before breaking and was a considerable distance out of position at the start losing all chance.
TECTONIC - slow to leave the pre-race formation and was back from the unruly position at the start.
Race 5   EQUINE VETERINARY SERVICES SPRING REWARDS HCP TROT
SUNNY SON - weakened final bend.
TAKE AFTER ME - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver J Morrison advised the gelding had been suited to being able to lead from an inside draw and maintain a strong tempo throughout.
GINAS MAJESTY - trotted roughly in the run home.
BOURBON ON THE ROCKS - weakened final bend.
TAKE NOTICE - began awkwardly. Raced wide early. Broke near the 2100m losing all chance. Driver J Smith defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly for a distance passing the 2300m when attempting to shift CLYDE inwards when not having an advantage to do so resulting in his horse breaking. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr Smith, the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and suspended Mr Smith's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 9 October up to and including 21 October 2022 (3 days) and in addition imposed a fine of $200.
MC SQUARED - broke near the 800m losing all chance.
IT'S SO EASY - raced wide early.
Race 6   NIGHT'N DAY PARK TIMARU HANDICAP PACE
ART COLLECTOR - held up early in the run home before hanging outwards once obtaining clear racing room.
MARK DUNNETT - broke at the start losing ground.
STAR MAGIC - shifted up the track passing the 200m having to be corrected by driver G Smith after he had activated the removeable gear resulting in a trailing runner being hampered. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
HE'S TOUGH - tangled away. Hampered in the run home having to be steadied.
REAL MEN WEAR PINK - broke at the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
JUST MICHAEL - over-raced early and middle stages.
PURE COURAGE - held up early in the run home.

HEY TONIGHT - hampered in the score up and was back slightly at the start.
FAST ACE - broke in the score up losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TOMMYSONAROLL - when questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.

VALYNDA - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
FRANCO CORNEL - hampered in the score up and was out of position at the start. Authorisation of placings was withheld until Stewards had spoken to driver R Close who advised he had not been denied a fair start.
FOUR STARZZZ SHIRAZ - broke in the score up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - raced wide early. Held up early and middle stages of the run home.
Race 8   CANTERBURY LONG RUN ROOFING TIMARU SPRING REWARDS HCP TROT
PRINCE TEKA - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance driver K Cameron was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be suffering from muscle tie up.
MADELEINE STOWE - broke racing into the first bend losing ground. Trotted roughly passing the 600m when weakening.
CODY BANNER - held up final bend. Trotted roughly throughout the run home. Driver M Williamson reported he had not activated the removable deafeners due to the gelding trotting roughly.
RESOLVE - began awkwardly.
MAGNIFIQUE DIMANCHE - broke at the start losing all chance.
KING OF LOVE - held up final bend.
SIOUX PRINCESS - over-raced middle stages.
Race 9   MORRISON'S SADDLERY & FEED SPRING REWARDS MOBILE PACE
KOWHAI SHADOW - raced wide without cover throughout. Weakened from the 600m.
KATHERINE - raced wide with cover through the early and middle stages. Raced four wide from 800m.
JIMMY ARMA - raced wide with cover through the early and middle stages. Raced five wide from the 800m.

STEPHS BOY - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
SWEET BELLE - when questioned regarding the improved performance driver S O'Reilly advised the mare had been racing without luck from unfavourable barrier draws in recent starts and had been able to capitalise on an economical run today.
Race 10   LASER ELECTRICAL TIMARU SPRING REWARDS MOBILE PACE
TASMAN TEMPEST - hung outwards in the score up and attempted to duck under the mobile barrier and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
BETTORLINI - fractious leaving the pre-race formation and required the assistance of the Starting Crew. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Held up early and middle stages of the run home. Driver B Hope reported that the mare had been showing signs of being in season on return to the stabling area following the race.
TAKEMYBREATHAWAY - raced wide with cover early and middle stages.
TOWER OF LOVE - paced roughly and broke shortly after the start losing ground. Placed on the unruly for future mobile starts.
ASIAN ELVIS - raced wide without cover until reaching the parked position near the 1300m.
COME TOGETHER - out of position at the start. Stewards questioned junior driver C Dalgety regarding this and after hearing his explanation opened and adjourned the matter to allow Mr Dalgety to obtain assistance from a senior driver. Raced wide early. Mr Dalgety was further questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the running when electing not to improve three wide in the middle stages when an opportunity existed. Mr Dalgety explained that his mare had been racing lethargically for a distance passing the 1400m and he had been attempting to urge his runner to maintain contact with the body of the field so for this reason felt it was not in the mare's best interests to improve outwards when it was likely he would be forced wider on the track by an inside runner. Mr Dalgety further advised the mare had been under pressure rounding the final bend and he was disappointed with the manner in which the horse had finished the race off in the run home. After considering his explanation, Stewards noted Mr Dalgety's comments. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with trainer B Butt in the coming days.
BEST TRIO - trainer D Taylor was issued a $100 Minor Infringement Notice after failing to affix the side carrier so as not to come adrift.
CARRERA LUCIA - raced wide middle stages. Weakened from the 500m.
