Raced wide early. Mr Dalgety was further questioned regarding the tactics he adopted during the running when electing not to improve three wide in the middle stages when an opportunity existed. Mr Dalgety explained that his mare had been racing lethargically for a distance passing the 1400m and he had been attempting to urge his runner to maintain contact with the body of the field so for this reason felt it was not in the mare's best interests to improve outwards when it was likely he would be forced wider on the track by an inside runner. Mr Dalgety further advised the mare had been under pressure rounding the final bend and he was disappointed with the manner in which the horse had finished the race off in the run home. After considering his explanation, Stewards noted Mr Dalgety's comments. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the mare with trainer B Butt in the coming days. | |
