Race Comments

Race 1   WYNDHAM WORKOUTS COMMITTEE TROT
GROOVY L'AMOUR - shifted outwards at the start crowding an outside runner.
JUSTINE JACCKA - crowded by an inside runner at the start and was slow to begin. Broke early in the run home.
HARLEEN QUINZEL - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. Placed on the Unruly for future standing start engagements.
STREAMING LIVE - Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule near the 1100m when GEORGE THE FIRST raced wider on the track after STREAMING LIVE shifted away from the marker line. After viewing replays, Stewards were satisfied driver B Williamson (STREAMING LIVE) had commenced his outwards movement prior to GEORGE THE FIRST reaching his sulky wheel with no further action required.
TEASE MY TARTAN - weakened final bend hampering a trailing runner.
GEORGE THE FIRST - briefly raced wider on the track near the 1050m.
ANDOVER THE KEYS - briefly hampered final bend by a weakening runner. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages before breaking just short of the finish line. Stewards lodged a Protest against 2nd placing being awarded to this mare alleging it was in the incorrect gait when its nose reached the finish line and was lapped on by GROOVY L'AMOUR. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and driver N Williamson, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the Protest and ANDOVER THE KEYS was relegated to 3rd placing.
JOHNNY WALKER - broke at the start losing ground. Again, broke passing the 80m and failed to settle. Stewards lodged a Protest against 4th placing being awarded to this gelding alleging it had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. Connections did not contest the Protest and after viewing replays JOHNNY WALKER was disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee. Trainer D Simpson reported the gelding had lost a front racing plate in the run home.

HALEY ROBYN - held up final bend and early in the run home.
TISBURY ROCKS - driver K Green reported she had received a punctured sulky tyre near the 400m.
KRAMER - held up throughout the run home. Driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners or activate the sliding blinds in consequence. Returned to the stabling area with blood present in the hock area. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a minor abrasion to the near hind hock.
JABALI - driver A Armour will be spoken to regarding the manner he drove near the 400m.
SHERWOOD MAGGIE - paced roughly on the final bend and raced inside the final track marker prior to the passing lane when attempting a marginal run. Authorisation of 2nd placing was withheld until the Stewards had viewed a replay and were satisfied the mare had not gained an advantage in this incident. Driver B Williamson admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly leaving the final bend when allowing his runner to make contact with the sulky wheel of NORDY STAR resulting in his horse pacing roughly and losing ground. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
SWEDISH STARLET - junior driver T Larsen was spoken to advisedly for using his whip in a continuous manner in the run home.
I'M WATCHING YOU - held up leaving the final bend and early in the run home.

Driver A Armour (JABALI) admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 400 metres when shifting ground outwards and striking the sulky wheel of TISBURY ROCKS resulting in the tyre puncturing. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $250.
