Race 1   ASHBURTON ENGRAVERS & ETCHING PACE
KING OF STRIDE - when questioned regarding the performance driver G Smith advised the gelding had raced greenly throughout and he was disappointed with the effort. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
BEAUDIENE QUICK STEP - raced ungenerously on several occasions throughout. Held up final bend and early in the run home.
RAPID RESPONSE - driver T Chmiel reported the gelding had cast the off front shoe during the running.
AIRIES GOLD - broke at the start losing considerable ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
WATCHIT - broke at the start losing ground.
Trainer P Burrows advised Stewards on 7 September that a subsequent veterinary examination on KING OF STRIDE failed to reveal any abnormalities and the gelding has been sent for a brief spell.
Trainer B Weaver advised Stewards on 16 September that ROCKETMAN has been treated for a virus since last racing.
Race 2   HAPPY BIRTHDAY "TREVOR ROBERTSON" TROT
DENVER - over-raced middle stages. Hampered by a weakening runner near the 700m.
SAINT BEN - weakened from the 700m hampering a trailing runner.
MAGNITUDE - broke briefly at the start. Trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
RAINING IN MY HEART - began awkwardly.
TU TANGATA - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
PAIGE - trotted roughly over the concluding stages.
LUCINDA HEST - broke after 150m losing ground.
JOHNNY WALKER - broke shortly after the start losing considerable ground. Trotted roughly through the middle stages. Broke again near the 500m losing all chance.
Race 3   MERV & GARY WILLS MEMORIAL MOBILE PACE
MYSTIFY ME - briefly held up early stages of the run home.
TAKEITOUT - raced greenly late in the score up and for a distance shortly after the start.
CARMELITE - junior driver C Dalgety admitted a breach of Rule 869(7A)(a) after contacting the last track marker prior to the passing lane. After hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $100. Mr Dalgety was spoken to advisedly for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.
MADRIGAL - trainer T Bagrie was warned for presenting the filly with removable deafeners and blinds which had not been notified.
Race 4   GAVIN DOUGLAS 2YO MOBILE TROT
HIGH NOON - broke at the 500m losing its chance.
ONE OVER DA LINE - broke near the 1400m losing its chance.
GOLD BULLION - hung inwards over the concluding stages.
CONFESSIONAL - broke shortly after the start losing its chance.
TECTONIC - driver S O'Reilly was reminded of her obligations regarding the starting position when drawn on the unruly. Raced wide early. Over-raced middle stages when racing in the parked position.
Race 5   STRAPPERS SYNDICATE MOBILE PACE
ENDLESS DREAMS - trainer G Court was issued a warning for being late to notify the mare would be racing with blinds.
ROSIES TERROR - held up late in the run home.
GLITZ AND GLAM - over-raced middle stages.
PHONE TAP - held up early stages of the run home.
SONGBIRD - held up early stages of the run home.
IT'S A SHAWTHING - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer J Gray advised the gelding had worked hard in its previous races and had benefited today from a more economical run throughout.
SPICY GIRL BECQUI - held up late in the run home.
Race 6   DAIRY BUSINESS CENTRE MOBILE PACE
CHRISLYNN - late scratching at 10.40am on Veterinary advice.
PHILADELPHIA FILLY - hung inwards passing the 350m and briefly raced in restricted room.
ELITE STYX - shifted ground outwards placing PHILADELPHIA FILLY which was hanging, in restricted room passing the 350m. Driver T Williams was issued with a warning for the manner in which he drove. When assessing this incident Stewards took into account the contributing manners of PHILADELPHIA FILLY.
VALIANT ANGEL - raced wide early.
THERESA LOVE - broke over the concluding stages. Stewards lodged a protest against 1st placing being awarded under Rule 870(5) alleging the mare was lapped on at the finish by ELITE STYX, CRIMSON ROCK and PHILADELPHIA FILLY. The connections did not contest the protest and after viewing the films THERESA LOVE was relegated to 4th placing by the Adjudicative Committee.
Race 7   HOKONUI RADIO ASHBURTON "HARNESS 7000" MOBILE PACE
TOWER OF LOVE - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver J Dunn. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. When questioned regarding the improved performance the connections advised the gelding had benefited from a change in its training regime and having its hocks treated as previously reported and had also trialled well recently.
WATCH ME - over-raced middle stages.
OH NO NANA - held up early and middle stages of the run home.
RAKAJED - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver R Close. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hung outwards and over-raced middle stages.
TERROR MA SUE - paced roughly rounding the final bend.
COSMIC STAR - broke shortly after the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Raced wide from the 900m. Driver K Butt reported the gelding had over-raced throughout and she would be recommending gear changes prior to resuming.
Race 8   MACCA LODGE HANDICAP TROT
A false start was declared when the front barrier strand malfunctioned.
MICKEY JAY - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start.
REINDEER TROUBLE - cleared from the unruly for future standing starts. Lay inwards near the 250m and had to be straightened.
HARRY POTTER - broke near the 450m losing its chance. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming.
SASSY STAR - driver K Butt reported the sliding blinds were not activated due to having the field covered.
MAKE MY SUNDON - broke near the 500m losing its chance.
Race 9   MT HUTT TROTTING CLUB PACE
WHAKAREHU - began awkwardly. Faltered near the 150m and was eased down by its driver with THE CONQUEROR being hampered. The Veterinarian immediately attended to the gelding with an examination revealing the horse to have fractured its near fore pastern and was humanely euthanised and transported from the track in the Horse Ambulance.
BONDI LUSTRE - broke at the start losing ground. Driver M Williamson reported a sulky tyre had deflated shortly after the start.
THE CONQUEROR - raced wide early. Hampered near the 150m. Driver S Ottley advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
TOMMYSONAROLL - the nose flap was dislodged shortly after the start. Held up early stages of the run home.
Race 10   LANDON LODGE MOBILE PACE
CHANGEAROUND - lay outwards rounding the final bend and throughout the run home. Driver S O'Reilly advised she did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence.
KING ARTHUR - held up over the concluding stages.
MAID OF MONEY - driver J Dunn advised the sliding blinds were not activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
TAXMAN - raced in restricted room just short of the finish line when runners either side shifted ground.
TERROR EYES - raced wide early stages. Lay inwards over the concluding stages.
RAKANOTTA - raced wide from the 1000m.
