General

General
Pre-race blood testing was carried out.

Stewards questioned R Todd as the trainer of OSCAR BONAVENA (Race 6) regarding comments he made in an article on the HRNZ website during the week surrounding his horse's prospects. Mr Todd advised his runner had trialed on only one occasion in preparation for this race, however, he believed the entire was well prepared to resume racing. Mr Todd said he believed it was unlikely his runner could beat the more race fit horses due to having drawn on the outside of the front line over a mile and then added he had intended to advise readers he anticipated OSCAR BONAVENA would derive considerable benefit from the run but had erred in his choice of words. After considering his comments Stewards reminded Mr Todd of his obligations when engaging with the media.
