Race 1   PERFECT PACKAGING LTD & ASPHALT CONTRACTORS LTD MOB PACE
HIT THE BEACH - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up for clear racing room until late in the run home.
NEMO BANDEIRA - driver S Ottley advised she sustained a punctured sulky tyre during the running.
FINE BY ME - shifted outwards when under pressure over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance stable representative B Munro advised the mare had been enjoying its new environment, was fit and had been working well leading into today's race and had appreciated the economical sectionals today.
TROUBLE SUPREME - driver J Morrison admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 250m when striking the sulky wheel of NEMO BANDEIRA which punctured. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Morrison's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 31 July up to and including 7 August 2022 (2 days).
WATCH ME - raced wide early and over-raced when being restrained to obtain cover. Paced roughly before breaking near the 1400m and was retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.
Race 2   TENNANT ENGINEERING & SOUTHERN PORK MOBILE PACE
OLIVIA'S STAR - lay out in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Paced roughly throughout the run home.
CRIMSON ROCK - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver K Butt. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
MOET SHARD - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver C DeFilippi. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the filly.
Race 3   INTERDOMINION FINALIST- "BEAT THE MONARCH" HCP TROT
ZSAHARA - co-trainers K Ford & A Tomlinson were warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to their sulky. Over-raced middle stages. Held up final bend.
MAJESTIC WHISPER - began awkwardly.
KAHNTDOITALONE - broke after 100m losing ground.
RUBY SEDDON - weakened over the concluding stages. When spoken to regarding the perceived disappointing performance trainer/driver J Cox advised the mare had over-raced at various stages which had taken its toll.
BREAK OUT - trainer A Hoffman was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to her sulky.
Race 4   EVERYONE'S FAVOURITE HORSE "JACKFROST" PACE
STAR MAGIC - the rein pricker was removed prior to the start after the gelding warmed up unfavourably.
APATCHOFGOLD - held up final bend.
YANKEE JAY - trainer J Howe was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky.
WESTAR LAD - broke at the start losing ground. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial from a stand prior to resuming.
KENNEDY - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer S Blake advised the gelding had been training well and had benefited from improved manners today and was able to obtain the lead, dictating the tempo of the race.
ITZ MAGICAL MEG - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
Race 5   GROUP 1 PLACEGETTERS "NANDOLO & DIDJABRINGTHEBEERS" HCP PACE
KINGSDOWN ATOM - held up throughout the run home.
PERCY - paced roughly racing into the first bend.
SONIC REIGN - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 1st placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break in the early stages. When questioned regarding the improved performance driver C Dalgety advised the gelding had received an economical run today compared to its previous start when it had raced parked throughout.
BETTOR BELIEVE IT - forced four wide on the final bend when improving. When questioned regarding the performance co-trainer/driver C DeFilippi advised after racing three wide from the 650m and then four wide from the 400m he had been unable to improve with the effort taking its toll over the concluding stages.
MILS MCARDLE - broke at the start losing ground. Broke again after 200m losing ground. Broke on a further occasion shortly thereafter losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
PROVISEUR - broke at the start losing ground. Authorisation of 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation when in a break in the early stages. Driver W House advised the removable deafeners were not activated due to the cord becoming entangled.
Race 6   GROUP WINNERS "BOOMGATE & SUVARNO HANOVER" MOBILE PACE
SARGENT BEST - held up for clear racing room over the concluding stages.
NO GEE ESS TEE - weakened passing the 400m hampering trailing runners. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
TISBURY ROCKS - raced wide early.
THE CONQUEROR - raced wide early.
SISTER'S DELIGHT - raced wide early.
SONGBIRD - briefly hampered by a weakening runner near the 400m.
VIN SCULLY - trainer C Faithful was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to have mudguards affixed to her sulky. Out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Briefly hampered by a weakening runner near the 400m.
VIOLET KNIGHT - paced roughly in the score up and was back from the unruly position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
Trainer T Yesberg advised Stewards on 27 July that NO GEE ESS TEE has been treated for a respiratory infection and also had its front fetlocks treated since last racing.
Race 7   NELSON & GREYMOUTH CUP WINNING MARE "MMOOZA" TROT
THE FIERY SPIRIT - broke passing the 150m and failed to settle. Stood down to complete one satisfactory trial prior to resuming. A protest was lodged against 4th placing being awarded to the gelding under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation for breaking in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. The connections did not contest the protest and after viewing the replays THE FIERY SPIRIT was disqualified by the Adjudicative Committee.
AIGUILLE - trainer K Townley was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Driver R Close reported a spreader had broken during the warm up and was removed prior to the start. This gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition.
SLAINTE - broke shortly after the start.
REINDEER TROUBLE - trainer M Heenan was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Fractious prior to the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Broke shortly after the start.
GAYTANA - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
PALISADE - trainer M House will be spoken to in the coming days for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky.
GOTTA TICKET - broke leaving the final bend.
NIGHT WATCH - trainer B Williamson was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky.
BROTHER LOVE - the required Veterinary clearance was received. Broke at the start losing all chance.
WYNBERG WATCH - trainer T Yesberg was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Fractious prior to the start with the sulky shaft becoming caught over the horse's rump causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
TOP HAT AND TAILS - broke after 150m losing all chance.
Trainer M House was issued a $50 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to have mudguards affixed to the sulky of PALISADE.
Race 8   EMPIRE EXTINGUISHERS & THE 8 JUGS NO DINNER SYND MOBILE PACE
EMMY - trainer S McRae was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky. Held up final bend.
MIDNITETRAINTOGEORGA - weakened abruptly over the concluding stages. When questioned regarding the performance driver J Dunn reported the mare was making abnormal breathing noises over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Trainer M Purvis reported he would be having a further veterinary examination undertaken in the coming days and Stewards will follow up the results.
ELOUISA DALE - raced wide early. Raced four wide from the 700m. Weakened final bend.
SKY VALE - trainer G Gillard was warned for failing to have mudguards affixed to his sulky.
MITSI GAYNOR - raced three wide without cover from the 1000m.
RUBY'S A DELIGHT - out of position at the start despite the efforts of driver S O'Reilly. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
I'LL WRITE THE STORY - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened from the 700m. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. A warning was also placed on the racing performance of the mare.
