Upon returning to the stabling area the colt collapsed and was immediately attended to by the on course Veterinarian however was found to be deceased and was transported from the course by the Horse Ambulance. A post mortem will be conducted in the coming days. | |

When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver G Smith advised the gelding had over-raced in the early stages and after the horse had failed to settle he elected to challenge for the lead passing the 1400m. Mr Smith added that after he had been unsuccessful in his attempt to lead the horse had continued to over-race before weakening. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with Mr Smith in the coming days.
