Race Comments

Race 1   INVERCARGILL LICENSING TRUST TROT
A false start was declared when THE BRONX BOMBER charged through the barrier strand despite the efforts of driver T Robertson. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. THE BRONX BOMBER was sent to the Unruly position by Starter B Ward for the restart where the mare will remain for future standing start engagements.
THE POWER BROKER - broke shortly after the start losing all chance.
THE BRONX BOMBER - lay inwards on the final bend when weakening, striking track markers.
VELOCITY JET - trotted roughly and broke near the 200m. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
NUBLIAH CHAMAY - briefly hampered shortly after the start by a breaking runner. Hung outwards leaving the final bend and throughout the run home.
STYRAX - broke after 100m losing all chance. Connections reported the filly had cast the off-front racing plate during the running.
DON AMECHE - trainer R Wilson was issued with a warning for presenting the gelding with the incorrect number. Broke racing into the first bend losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
Race 2   CARRIERS ARMS HOTEL MOBILE PACE
JACCKA OPA - raced greenly when improving to the lead near the 1400m and shifted up the track despite the efforts of driver N Williamson. Stewards questioned driver N Williamson regarding the manner he drove after the finish of the race when using his whip on two occasions. Mr Williamson explained that the gelding had again raced greenly at this part of the track where the horses leave the course and had attempted to pull up so for safety reasons he used the whip to ensure the horse would regain focus. After considering the explanation tendered which was verified on the replays, Stewards were satisfied no further action was deemed necessary.
GALLEONS CONTENDER - broke late in the score-up losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened on the final bend. Trainer R Wilson reported GALLEONS CONTENDER will now be sent for a spell.
TEDDY BAKER - over-raced rounding the first bend when being restrained to obtain cover. Driver P Hunter reported the sliding blinds had failed to activate due to the cord becoming entangled. Driver P Hunter admitted a charge that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
Race 3   TODD & CO REALTY FILLIES & MARES MOBILE PACE
TASHS BAD GIRL - held up leaving the final bend.
SEASTORIE - held up leaving the final bend.
THREETIMESBETTER - raced wide early. Weakened on the final bend.
HUNTING WEIGHT - raced wide early. Held up by a weakening runner rounding the final bend. Held up again early in the run home.
Race 4   DRAKE PLUMBING & DRAINLAYING MOBILE PACE
HE'S A MEISTER - broke briefly early in the score-up.
ART LINCOLN - broke as the start was effected losing ground. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up on the final bend.
THREE ACES - weakened early in the run home.
FULLY CHARGED - paced roughly in the score-up and was out of position at the candy pole and start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Paced roughly again on various occasions during the running. Weakened leaving the final bend. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with trainer M Swain in the coming days.
Trainer M Swain advised Stewards on 3 June that FULLY CHARGED has recovered well since its last start and he will continue with the gelding's current preparation.
Race 5   WWW.SOUTHERNHARNESS.CO.NZ MOBILE TROT
TONY MAC - trotted roughly late in the run home and had to be steadied.
RUBY SEDDON - driver N Williamson reported he did not release the removable deafeners due to the mare trotting roughly in the run home.
JOEDIUM - broke shortly after the start losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding.
MAKE MY DAY - broke near the 150m. A warning was placed on the racing record of the mare.
OUR COUNTDOWN - over-raced in the early and middle stages. Held up until late in the run home with driver B Williamson reporting he did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
ANDIAMO - over-raced and trotted roughly in the score-up then broke losing all chance. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare.
Race 6   RYDER ROOFING MOBILE PACE
TINTORETTO - weakened from the 400m when leading which hampered trailing runners.
GET KRAKEN - when asked to comment on the performance of the gelding which performed below market expectations driver J Cox could offer no tangible explanation.
TANE J J - held up by a weakening runner passing the 400m.
DALNESS ARIZONA - held up by a weakening runner passing the 400m before breaking approaching the 300m when over-racing.
TANGIER TANGO - raced wide early.
TISBURY ROCKS - raced wide early.
FIREFOREFIDDLE - over-raced early when wide on the track.
RAKANOTTA - held up by a weakening runner passing the 400m.
SHERWOOD MAGGIE - held up in the early and middle stages of the run home with junior driver S O'Reilly reporting she did not release the removable deafeners as a consequence.
HOKONUI SAM - when asked to comment on the improved performance the connections advised the gelding had been suited by the tempo of the race with the slower closing sectionals.
JAFFIE J - raced wide early. Driver J Morrison reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.
Race 7   MACCA LODGE MOBILE PACE
ATARAH - raced wide early.
NYLA - raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 1600m.
BETTER GALLEON - over-raced in the early and middle stages.
CHANGEAROUND - over-raced in the early and middle stages.
PROSPECT PARK - over-raced in the early and middle stages. When asked to comment on the performance driver S Ottley advised the gelding had raced too keenly and this had taken its toll.
I'M WATCHING YOU - over-raced in the middle stages. Held up early in the run home.
Trainer B Willis advised on 19th December that ATARAH has had its hocks treated since last racing.
Race 8   NEVILLE CLEAVER FISHING MOBILE TROT
JORDAN ANNE - held up by a weakening runner passing the 700m.
AFTERBURNER - weakened from the 700m. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no obvious abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with trainer B Gray in the coming days.
WAI KEY WEE - raced wide early.
CRUSHER COLLINS - raced wide early. Over-raced in the middle stages.
ONLY ONE WAY - raced wide early. Over-raced when leading through the middle stages. Hung inwards and trotted roughly in the run home and was unable to be fully driven out by junior driver M Hurrell.
JIMMY CARTER - over-raced in the middle stages. Junior driver K Bublitz reported the sliding blinds failed to activate due to the cord breaking. Stewards inspected the gear and found it to be in previously good condition.
Trainer B Gray advised Stewards on 3 June that AFTERBURNER had recovered well following its last start and he has been pleased with the gelding's trackwork in preparation for racing at Invercargill on 6 June.
Race 9   D T KINGS TRANSPORT MOBILE PACE
SWELL TIME - trainer S Baucke advised the mare has had its hocks treated since last racing. Weakened leaving the final bend.
BETA THAN LOVE - weakened on the final bend.
AIRWAVES - weakened on the final bend.
SIR BRIGADOON - held up early in the run home.
WRECKING BALL - lay inwards leaving the final bend and had to be corrected.
BRIGADIERS SON - lay inwards leaving the final bend and had to be corrected.
Race 10   E H BALL ITM MOBILE PACE
VIN SCULLY - had some difficulty obtaining clear racing room in the run home.
THE BIG LEBOWSKI - raced wide early.
ARCHAIC LUSTRE - late scratching on Veterinary advice at 2.02pm. Connections were advised the gelding was stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
