Race 6 - CRAIG AT HARCOURTS SUPPORTS SOUTHERN HARNESS TROT
TOLKIEN - Junior driver T Larsen with the assistance of K Larsen was spoken to regarding his apparent lack of vigour in the home straight. Mr Larsen advised the gelding had been travelling well through the middle stages and it was his intention to be get a cart into the race with cover which he did not receive until leaving the final bend. Mr Larsen further stated that at the 300 metres when he activated the removable deafeners TOLKIEN had initially trotted roughly and he was aware if the gelding is pushed to hard it can trot rough and break as it did at its previous start at Winton. Stewards spoke advisedly to Mr Larsen and reminded him of his obligations as a driver to drive his horse out to the finish line.
Race 7 - LOOKING TO BUY? CALL CRAIG AT HARCOURTS MOBILE PACE
TARGARYEN - Driver K Larsen was spoken to regarding his drive where he was positioned three-wide for the entire journey before weakening from the 600 metres. Mr Larsen advised that the gelding can be a difficult horse to drive particularly when it locks on as on this occasion and his initial intention was to go back and find a position on the running line which he attempted to do however the horse began to over-race. Shortly after the pace eased at which time he elected to go forward however the horse was flat from there on and unable to make any progress. Mr Larsen was advised he must make a better effort not to leave his driving open to question in future.
Race 11 - CRAIG HEYRICK AT HARCOURTS REAL ESTATE MOBILE PACE
Trainer N Williamson advised Stewards on 4 June that DELIGHTFUL DEAL has not had blood tests taken but has been treated for a hoof injury since last racing.
