Shifted inwards near the 900m when insufficiently clear of SCHOEMAKER which was checked and broke losing ground. After questioning drivers J Smith (SCHOEMAKER) and B Orange (CLOVELLY HILL) and hearing their explanations, Stewards issued a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging Mr Orange had driven carelessly in this incident. Mr Orange advised he would be defending the charge with the hearing being opened and adjourned until the NZ Metropolitan TC meeting on 4 August 2024. Driver B Orange (CLOVELLY HILL) defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when shifting inwards near the 900m checking SCHOEMAKER (J Smith) which broke and lost ground. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee dismissed the charge.
