When questioned regarding the performance Mr Orange advised the horse had raced lethargically throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and signs of muscle tie up. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.

IVAN THE GREAT - broke briefly shortly after the start hampering a trailing runner. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Hampered by a slight easing of the pace and over-raced for a distance passing the 1500m causing driver A Edge difficulty and shifted outwards near the 1350m forcing SWEET SPIRIT to race wider on the track. Lay inwards for a distance and paced roughly when being shifted wider on the track near the 950m. Again lay inwards rounding the final bend causing driver A Edge difficulty and struck the sulky wheel of ARCHIE and broke and shifted inwards checking EVIDENTLY which fell dislodging driver K McClintock. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
