HAZER - over-raced in the middle stages proving difficult for driver E Barron with the horse causing considerable discomfort to the driver of the runner it was following. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Driver E Barron reported she was unable to activate the removable deafeners due to the cord becoming entangled.

HAZER - broke approaching the first bend checking an outside runner, after its near-side front shoe, which had sprung loose, became caught in the near-side hopple elastics preventing the horse from placing its foot down naturally, causing it to stumble and break its gait. As a result, no action was taken against the gelding's racing manners.

Driver C Ferguson admitted a charge under Rule 869(2) and the Whip and Rein Regulations that he used his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $275.

RISE UP N DANCE - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards early in the run home and had to be corrected by driver N Williamson. When questioned regarding the performance, Mr Williamson advised that the tempo of the race made it difficult to make ground and with no established three wide line, he was unable to improve his position prior to the final bend. Mr Williamson added that despite this he was pleased with the manner in which the gelding had finished the race off.

RISE UP N DANCE - weakened rounding the final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver N Williamson advised he was disappointed and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and very high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with Mr Williamson in the coming days.
