MIKKO KOIVU - raced wide on the track near the 1500m. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule when MIKKO KOIVU raced wide on the track. After speaking with drivers B Williamson and G Goodman (BILL BOOTIT), assisted by M Williamson, and viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied that BILL BOOTIT had never shifted to a position on the marker line and took the matter no further.

Stewards lodged a protest against 10th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging the gelding had broken in excess of 150m during the running. Driver G Minnucci did not contest the protest and MARKTHEWARRIOR was disqualified by the Stewards.

MADRIK - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination due to not having raced for a considerable period of time and was cleared to start. Tangled away. Broke entering the first bend losing ground. Weakened final bend.

Broke again racing into the first bend and was retired from the race by driver K Green who reported she felt something was amiss with the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities. Stewards will follow up the recovery of the gelding with trainer K Green in the coming days.
