LESTER - broke at the start losing ground. Held up early in the run home. Became awkwardly placed behind KISS THE GIRLS and contacted the sulky wheel when there was an easing of the pace near the 300m. Lay inwards near the 220m having to be straightened and then locked wheels with HACKSAW RIDGE momentarily near the 200m.

When asked to comment on the performance driver T Williams advised he was disappointed and could offer no explanation, adding he would have the gelding undergo a veterinary examination on return to its home stable. IRISH DREAM - lay inwards rounding the final bend striking a track marker. Held up in the run home before pacing roughly when in restricted room inside the final 50m with the horse striking track markers. Driver C DeFilippi advised he did not activate the removable deafeners in consequence. Mr DeFilippi defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly by anticipating a run to the inside of BAR LOUIE resulting in his horse racing over track markers late in the run home. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr DeFilippi the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr DeFilippi's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 7 September up to and including 14 September 2025 (2 days).

Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 3rd placing under Rule 870(5) alleging the gelding was in a break as it reached the finish line and lapped on by SEASIDE ROSE. After viewing the replays driver M Williamson did not contest the protest and ALWAYS DREAMING was relegated to 4th placing by Stewards. The breast plate broke rounding the final bend. The gear was inspected by Stewards and found to be in previously good condition.

DA VINCI - broke at the start losing ground. When questioned regarding the tactics adopted during the running, trainer/driver C Ferguson advised that the gelding is best driven for one run and is not suited to working during the running. Mr Ferguson further explained that he shifted outwards near the 700m in an attempt to secure a trail into the race. However, when this did not eventuate, he was left to improve wide from the rear of the field rounding the final bend. He added that he was not overly disappointed with the performance, considering the closing sectionals. Stewards noted Mr Ferguson's comments.

BEACH DAY - shifted outwards near the 100m checking MHAI SURFER GIRL. Driver M Hurrell admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly when shifting ground. After viewing the replays and hearing submissions on penalty, the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Hurrell's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 15 February up to and including 22 February 2026 (3 days).
