RISE UP N DANCE - raced wide in the early stages. Hung inwards early in the run home and had to be corrected by driver N Williamson. When questioned regarding the performance, Mr Williamson advised that the tempo of the race made it difficult to make ground and with no established three wide line, he was unable to improve his position prior to the final bend. Mr Williamson added that despite this he was pleased with the manner in which the gelding had finished the race off.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and very high heart rate. Stewards will follow up with Mr Williamson in the coming days.

Stewards withheld authorisation of 3rd placing until they had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage at this stage of the race. Hampered by a weakening runner in the early and middle stages of the run home placing driver C Dalgety in some difficulty, resulting in the gelding striking the sulky wheel of FOREVER ARDEN. Stewards questioned junior driver C Dalgety regarding the tactics he adopted during the race, particularly near the 600m, when he allowed his runner to be covered by the sharply improving JENNY GUMP. Mr Dalgety explained that the mare was hanging on the right rein and that he was reluctant to shift three wide at that stage of the race, given the distance remaining to the winning post. Stewards noted Mr Dalgety's explanation and took into account the manner the runner had been driven at its most recent start.
