HONEYCOMB - placed in restricted room by an outside runner racing into the first bend, then stumbled and broke hampering a trailing runner losing all chance and was retired from the race by driver N Kyle. Stewards spoke with Miss Kyle regarding this, who advised the mare had panicked when placed in restricted room and broke in consequence. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.

Broke near the 1200m briefly hampering a trailing runner losing ground and was not persevered with by driver W House who reported that the hopple shortener cord had become entangled around the mare's leg causing it to break.

KATYS SHADOW - fractious prior to the first attempt at a start and refused to parade in the pre-race formation requiring assistance from the Clerk of the Course and a starting attendant causing a delay. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Weakened early in the run home. When questioned regarding the performance driver R Harrison advised the mare had worked hard in the early stages to obtain the lead with the effort taking its toll. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

Prior to the authorisation of placings connections of the 2nd placed DRAGONESS (R McIlwrick) viewed replays of the run home and elected to lodge a protest against 1st placing being awarded to CAUGHT THE EYE (N Burton) alleging interference in the home straight. After viewing replays and hearing evidence from Mr McIlwrick, Miss Burton, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, and Stewards, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the Protest and relegated CAUGHT THE EYE to 2nd placing with DRAGONESS promoted to 1st placing. Miss Burton was issued with a warning for failing to maintain a straight course in the run home.
