Stewards were satisfied no driver was at fault and took the matter no further. Driver G Thornley reported a sulky tyre had deflated during the running.

ROYAL BELLE - shifted inwards marginally near the 150m dictating EDICT which was laying inwards into the passing lane with the trailing SHE'S A LADY being denied full access. Stewards lodged a protest against 2nd placing being awarded to ROYAL BELLE (K Hadfield) under Rule 869A(2) alleging interference near the 150m to SHE'S A LADY (J Morrison) placed 3rd. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties, the Adjudicative Committee upheld the protest and ROYAL BELLE was relegated to 3rd placing. Driver K Hadfield was issued with a warning to make a greater effort to maintain a straight course in the run home. When assessing this, Stewards were mindful of the minimal degree of movement from Mr Hadfield's runner.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have minor abrasions to the inside of the left knee consistent with striking its knee during the running.

KUSAMA - shifted outwards leaving the final bend contacting the front leg of PARTY UP DENARIO which broke briefly losing ground. Stewards questioned drivers C Ferguson (KUSAMA) and B Barclay (PARTY UP DENARIO) where it was established that Mr Ferguson had begun his outwards movement when sufficient advantage over outside runners existed, however PARTY UP DENARIO had been slow to react to the movement resulting in the advantage over SPORTY CHARLIE to the outside of Mr Barclay dissipating and contact being made. After viewing the replays which confirmed this Stewards could apportion blame to no one driver or horse and took the matter no further.

Hung outwards approaching the 1000m hampering an outside runner and placing driver H Douglas in difficulty eventually being retired from the race. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some soreness in the left fore heel and abrasions to the front legs. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until Stewards had viewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation.
