Again broke near the 350m losing all chance. Stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming.
WATERHOLES ROAD - raced in restricted room as the start was effected when NYLA lay outwards slightly and SEARING LIGHT shifted inwards marginally. Shifted outwards and contacted the outside sulky wheel of SEARING LIGHT near the 550m resulting in the tyre puncturing and WATERHOLES ROAD breaking in consequence losing all chance. Driver J Buckland-Stevens admitted a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mrs Buckland-Stevens' amateur driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today, 4 January up to and including 14 February 2026 (3 days).

FLYING FOR ME - over-raced early stages placing driver J Morrison in difficulty. Continued to over-race and was awkwardly positioned to the inside of BAUTISTA (B Williamson) near the 1250m when runners were racing loosely, resulting in driver B Orange (THE HIGHLANDER) electing to shift outwards to relieve the pressure to inside runners for safety reasons. Connections were advised FLYING FOR ME was stood down to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards on one occasion prior to resuming. Following the race driver B Williamson viewed replays and after hearing from Stewards elected not to proceed with a protest against 1st placing being awarded to FLYING FOR ME.
BAUTISTA - held up leaving the final bend. Driver B Williamson was issued with a warning for using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion in the run home.

RISE UP N DANCE - placed in restricted room near the sulky wheel of WILD EAST when there was a slight easing of the pace near the 1900m. Junior driver G Goodman, assisted by N Williamson, admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that she drove carelessly when contacting the sulky wheel of WILD EAST near the 700m resulting in the tyre puncturing and coming off the rim. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200.
RISE UP N DANCE - returned to the birdcage enclosure with blood present in its mouth. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding had a small laceration on its tongue.
SHERWOOD MAGGIE - the near side hopple carrier strap became detached during the running. Trainer B Norman was issued with a $100 Minor Infringement Notice for failing to affix gear so as not to come adrift.
JACCKA ELVIS - on return to the birdcage enclosure post-race was reported to be making abnormal breathing noises. A subsequent veterinary examination including an endoscopic procedure revealed the gelding to have possible soft palate displacement. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
BABE ON THE BEACH - trainer C Ferguson admitted a charge under Rule 865(2) in that he presented the mare without the notified blinds and anti-choke device. After considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $150.
JENNY GUMP - driver S Walkinshaw was issued with a warning after using his whip with more than a wrist flicking motion and in a continuous manner in the run home.

OUR SUPERFUND - hampered and broke rounding the final bend losing all chance. Stewards questioned driver E Barron regarding the reason she did not shift wider on the track once MODE, which she was following, had commenced to weaken rounding the final bend. Miss Barron explained that despite her efforts she was unable to shift out due to the gelding hanging inwards and trotting roughly, adding that OUR SUPERFUND had trotted roughly on several occasions during the running. Stewards noted the comments.

Authorisation of this runner's 4th placing was withheld until Stewards had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had complied with the Breaking Horses Regulation on both occasions.

RAKAMICK - raced wide early stages. Raced wider on the track near the 1400m when HE'S ROBYN shifted outwards from the running line. Stewards investigated a perceived breach of the Push Out Rule at this stage of the race, where it was established that driver R McIlwrick (HE'S ROBYN) had commenced his outwards movement prior to RAKAMICK reaching his sulky wheel, accordingly no further action was required.
HE'S ROBYN - hung out near the 1500m hampering outside runners. Paced roughly and broke near the 1400m hampering trailing runners, losing all chance. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding.
CAPTAIN AMORE - lay inwards and struck a track marker racing into the first bend. Locked sulky stays with TUNEINSPORTSFANS just prior to the finish line when that runner lay inwards. Following the race junior driver G Goodman, assisted by N Williamson, viewed replays of the final stages before electing not to proceed with a protest against 1st placing being awarded to TUNEINSPORTSFANS.
THE ORANGE ROUGHY - junior driver S Hill, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, admitted a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) in that he drove carelessly near the 300m when shifting ground inwards and contacting the sulky wheel of JUST LIKE JAGGER with the tyre puncturing as a consequence. After viewing replays and considering submissions on penalty the Adjudicative Committee imposed a suspension of Mr Hill's junior driver's licence from the conclusion of racing on 1 March up to and including 11 March 2026 (4 days).
THE ORANGE ROUGHY - hampered passing the 1900m and paced roughly in consequence. Hampered by a weakening runner final bend. Held up early stages of the run home.
A false start was declared at the first attempt when THE ORANGE ROUGHY raced greenly in the score up checking outside runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Driver K Green elected to remain in her allocated barrier position for the restart.

THE REAL CRUNCH - when questioned regarding the improved performance trainer A Black advised the gelding had been freshened and performed well at a recent workout, adding he was not surprised by the forward showing.
SKY PATROL - paced roughly rounding the first bend. Raced wide early and middle stages. Weakened from the 700m. The breast plate came adrift during the running. The gear was inspected and found to be in previously good condition. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
The start was initially delayed when Starter Mr B Ward was not satisfied with the manner runners addressed the mobile and further delayed when SKY PATROL became fractious and was sent to the Unruly by the Starter.
