SHADOW OF THE MOON - weakened final bend. When questioned regarding the performance trainer/driver B Butt advised despite the fast closing sectionals of the race he was still disappointed with the effort of the gelding. A post-race veterinary examination revealed no abnormalities.

SHADOW OF THE MOON - raced greenly and shifted inwards into the passing lane near the 1400m resulting in an easing of the pace checking and hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the racing record of the gelding. Raced greenly and shifted outwards rounding the final bend despite the efforts of driver J Dunn.

HOKONUI JOEL - paced roughly in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Weakened final bend. Placed on the Unruly for future mobile starts at the request of trainer K Moore.

HOKONUI JOEL - the murphy blind was removed prior to the start due to the gelding warming up unfavourably. Broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Over-raced middle stages.

COSMIC STAR - raced wide early until reaching the parked position near the 1700m. Lay inwards near the 250m despite the efforts of driver B Orange placing HOKONUI JOEL in restricted room and briefly locked sulky wheels with that runner.

HOKONUI JOEL - broke shortly after the start when racing greenly and placed in restricted room losing ground. Stewards spoke with drivers B Williamson (HOKONUI JOEL), K Green (HEIDSIECK) and C Ferguson (BELUGA) regarding this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing the evidence it was established that HEIDSIECK had lay in marginally racing into the first bend when HOKONUI JOEL was racing greenly to its inside. After considering the evidence Stewards were unable to apportion blame to anyone horse or driver and accordingly deemed this to be a racing incident. Lay out rounding the final bend and throughout the run home.
