HACKSAW RIDGE - paced roughly passing the 300m when contacting the near side sulky wheel of FUSION REACTOR losing ground. Driver M Williamson was issued with a warning.

HACKSAW RIDGE - broke briefly at the start. Raced wide until reaching the parked position near the 2200m. Weakened from the 1500m hampering a trailing runner and was retired from the race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding had suffered an atrial fibrillation. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance including the results of an ECG prior to completing one satisfactory trial before resuming.

HACKSAW RIDGE - hung inwards and paced roughly rounding the first bend and continued to race greenly for some distance when being restrained. Lay inwards in the early stages of the run home placing driver K Green in some difficulty who reported she did not release the removable deafeners in consequence. Stewards questioned Ms Green regarding the tactics she adopted near the 1800m when restraining the gelding allowing an inside runner to shift out and obtain a run in the one out line. After hearing from Ms Green and viewing the replays Stewards adjourned the matter to give it further consideration.

When questioned regarding the performance Mr Dalgety advised he was disappointed with the effort and could offer no explanation.

A false start was declared when EVANGALIST backed away just prior to the start hampering trailing runners. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. Sent to the unruly position by the Starter for the restart where the mare will remain for future standing starts.

SKY ROCKET - over raced in the score up causing driver W House some difficulty. Lay inwards on the bends. Weakened leaving the final bend. When asked to comment on the tactics he adopted passing the 1800m when shifting off the marker line to race parked Mr House advised he believed the leader (BOBBIES ROCK) had worked hard in the early stages and rather than stay four back on the marker line and risk possibly being denied an uninterrupted run to line over the concluding stages he elected to shift out and challenge for the lead. He added on reaching the parked position he was unable to progress further forward and had no option but to stay parked with the effort taking its toll over the concluding stages. Stewards noted Mr House's comments.
