TUNEINSPORTSFANS - briefly placed in restricted room on the sulky wheel of FRANCO HUNTINGTON near the 900m when there was a slight easing of the pace. Raced wide from the 600m.
FRANCO HUNTINGTON - hung inwards shortly after the start and raced wide for a distance. Driver S Walkinshaw was warned for shifting inwards late in the score up and starting inside his allocated barrier position.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - broke in the score up and was out of position at the start. A warning was placed on the barrier record of the gelding. Held up final bend and the early to middle stages of the run home.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - contacted the final track marker prior to the passing lane. Stewards withheld authorisation of 3rd placing until they had reviewed the footage and were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage at this stage of the race. Junior driver M Hill, who declined the assistance of a senior driver, admitted a charge under Rule 869(7A)(a) in that he allowed his horse to contact a track marker near the 200m. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $150.
ROBYNS HUSTLER - raced three wide with cover from the 1000m. Stewards questioned driver M Hill regarding the manner he drove near the 1400m when he restrained his runner which allowed PARADISE VALLEY to shift in to take a position in the running line. Mr Hill explained he was aware that if he did not take hold he would have been pushed down to the marker line by the runner to his outside which he felt would have been detrimental to his chances. Stewards noted Mr Hill's comments.
TASHS BAD GIRL - raced wide final bend. Junior driver N Kyle, assisted by A Kyle, was shown a replay of the final stages and reminded of her obligation to drive her horses out fully to the finish in the future, to ensure that her drives leave no room for query.
TASHS BAD GIRL - raced wide early. Lost the off front plate during the running. Junior driver N Kyle was shown the footage of the run home for educational purposes regarding the use of her whip. In taking this course of action Stewards were mindful of Miss Kyle's inexperience in relation to race day driving.

FOREVER ARDEN - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination after being observed to have blood present in its mouth following the two false starts and was found to have a small cut on its lip being cleared to start. Held up final bend and early stages of the run home. Driver R McIlwrick was questioned regarding the tactics he adopted over the concluding stages of the run home when held up and electing not to take a run to his inside which became available inside the final 100 metres. Mr McIlwrick explained that his gelding had become worked up after the two false starts and having to undergo a veterinary examination. He added that he was hard on the back of MR PRESIDENT and was aware that there was room to his inside over the concluding stages however because the gelding was travelling so well in this position he was reluctant to attempt a shift inwards off Mr Barclay's helmet or activate the removable deafeners for safety reasons, due to being in such close proximity to the sulky of MR PRESIDENT. Stewards accepted and noted Mr McIlwrick's comments.

FOXING EASTON - a pre-race Veterinary examination after being observed to have blood present in its mouth, revealed a small laceration to its tongue with the gelding subsequently cleared to start.
TUA LIPA - paced roughly through the early and middle stages losing considerable ground. Returned to the birdcage with blood present on the near foreleg. Underwent a post-race veterinary examination which revealed the gelding to have wounds to both heels on the near foreleg consistent with striking itself during the running. Trainer S Matheson advised the gelding will now be sent for a spell. When questioned regarding the performance of the favoured runner driver S Ottley advised the gelding had paced roughly on the bends and this had been detrimental to its chances.
