ABULL - held up early stages of the run home. Shifted ground abruptly near the 80m contacting and checking an inside runner. Broke over the concluding stages. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have a laceration to the left front leg which was treated. Connections were advised ABULL was stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming. Junior driver D Anderson, assisted by senior driver C Ferguson, admitted a charge that he drove carelessly in the incident near the 80m when allowing his runner to shift ground inwards checking an inside runner. After viewing replays and considering penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee suspended Mr Anderson's driver's licence from the conclusion of racing today up to and including 17 July 2025, 4 days.

HERE'S JOHNY - when questioned regarding the tactics he adopted near the 1700-metre mark when shifting from a trailing position to race in the running line, Driver P Hunter explained that the gelding performs better when there is genuine pace in the race. Mr. Hunter added that, as the pace eased momentarily during the middle stages, he believed his best option was to attempt to take the lead in order to maintain a genuine tempo. However, he was ultimately unable to do so. Stewards noted Mr. Hunter's explanation.

MONTAGE - contacted the near side sulky wheel of CLAASEE when trailing that runner near the 1200m when driver D Anderson was activating gear, then paced roughly briefly hampering trailing runners. Mr Anderson, assisted by B Williamson, defended a charge under Rule 869(3)(b) alleging that he drove carelessly in this incident. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from all parties the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and following penalty submissions imposed a fine of $250.

Stewards questioned driver K Green regarding the tactics she adopted through the middle stages, in particular near the 800m when electing to remain in the running line as opposed to shifting out and progressing forward. Miss Green advised that the filly was not travelling well enough to progress into the race without cover and so she elected to retain her position and wait to trail another runner forward, however the filly then failed to finish the race off as she expected and had proved disappointing. Stewards noted the comments.
