When questioned regarding the performance driver T Chmiel advised he was disappointed with the effort and was unable to provide any explanation. A post-race veterinary examination initially revealed no abnormalities however upon cooling down the gelding developed colic and was treated prior to being transported to the Canterbury Equine Clinic in the Horse Ambulance for further assessment. Stood down pending a veterinary clearance prior to resuming.

SOUTHSIDE OF HEAVEN - shifted ground outwards near the 650m becoming awkwardly placed to the sulky of NEK DELIGHT and contacted the wheel of this runner with the tyre puncturing in consequence. Junior driver S Hill, assisted by B Williamson, admitted a charge that he drove carelessly in this incident with the matter adjourned sine die by the Adjudicative Committee.

Driver T Williams admitted a breach of the Push Out Rule 869(4)(6)(b)(c) in that he shifted ground outwards racing into the first bend forcing DENY EVERYTHING wider on the track. After viewing the replays and hearing penalty submissions the Adjudicative Committee imposed a fine of $200. Raced four wide for a distance passing the 1700m.
