Stewards will follow up the results of these tests. Mr McCormick was issued a warning for driving in a manner likely to cause interference when allowing his runner to breast the barrier strand resulting in it failing to fully clear the track.

A false start was declared at the first attempt when the 20m barrier strand became entangled in the legs of JORDAN ANNE. Stewards questioned starter Mr B Ward and driver M Williamson regarding this and after hearing from both parties a warning was placed on the barrier record of the mare. In assessing this matter Stewards took into account that Mr Williamson was attempting to restrain his runner prior to the tapes being released.

WILLANGUS LAD - broke passing the 90m hampering a trailing runner and continued on in a break across the finish line. Stewards lodged a protest against this runner's 4th placing being awarded under Rule 870(3) and the Breaking Horses Regulation alleging WILLANGUS LAD had broken in excess of 50m inside the final 200m. After viewing the replays Driver M Hurrell did not contest the protest and WILLANGUS LAD was disqualified by the Stewards.

WILLANGUS LAD - underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was cleared to start. Broke after 100m losing considerable ground. Broke again near the 300m losing all chance.

WILLANGUS LAD - weakened from the 700m. Stewards investigated a possible breach of the Push Out Rule when WILLANGUS LAD raced wider on the track near the 2000m. After viewing the replays Stewards were satisfied driver C Hart (MUSCLE BANK) had commenced his outward movement prior to WILLANGUS LAD reaching his sulky wheel and no further action was required. When questioned regarding the performance driver M Hurrell advised the gelding had been unsuited to the extra distance of today's race. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a slow recovery and signs of stress. Stewards will follow up with connections in the coming days.
