Following the race driver M Hurrell advised Stewards he believed he had been denied a fair start when unable to take up his correct Unruly barrier position due to HERE'S JOHNY being in his position. Stewards requested a ruling from the Adjudicative Committee and after viewing replays and hearing from Mr Hurrell and Stewards, BY CHANCE was declared a non-runner acting under Rule 213(1)(j) due to being denied a fair start.

Trainer R Austin advised Stewards on 5 December that LA BAMBA has had its hocks treated since last racing.

LA BAMBA - slow in the early stages then trailed the field throughout. A post-race veterinary examination revealed a high heart rate and slow recovery. Trainer R Austin advised he would have blood tests conducted in the coming days and undertook to report any findings to Stewards. A warning was placed on the racing performance of the gelding.

LA BAMBA - out of position at the start. Driver R Austin was issued with a warning for failing to maintain his barrier position. Paced roughly for several strides near the 2000m after being shifted inwards by an outside runner, losing ground.

IMPERIAL LAZ - raced over several track markers near the 800m when laying in and racing in tight quarters. Hampered by a breaking runner near the 650m. Stewards spoke with drivers B Orange (IMPERIAL LAZ) and R Austin (LA BAMBA) regarding the incident near the 800m where it was established IMPERIAL LAZ was laying in with no driver deemed to be at fault.
