MAUI - required a change of sulky prior to the start after sustaining a punctured sulky tyre in the preliminary. Raced wide early.

MAUI - Stewards questioned driver D McCormick regarding the manner in which he drove in the run home when his left foot dropped from the sulky footrest on several occasions resulting in contact being made with the gelding's hind leg. Mr McCormick explained that his sulky seat had slipped backwards at the start placing him at a disadvantage resulting in him having difficulty keeping his foot in the sulky rest while driving his runner out. After considering his explanation and viewing the position of the sulky seat following the race, Stewards were satisfied the contact had been accidental and took the matter no further.
