KAIRAKI VEGAS - contacted the sulky of KOWHAI STAR passing the 900m and broke hampering trailing runners losing ground. Driver R May defended a breach of Rule 869(3)(b) alleging he drove carelessly when allowing his runner to contact the sulky of the runner ahead KOWHAI STAR and break. After viewing the replays and hearing evidence from Stewards and Mr May the Adjudicative Committee found the charge proved and Mr May's driver's licence was suspended from the conclusion of racing on 17 August up to and including 31 August 2025 (4 days).

Despite this driver M Hurrell was issued with a warning for striking a track marker. Authorisation of this runner's 3rd placing was withheld until the Stewards were satisfied the gelding had not gained an advantage when racing inside track markers late in the run home.

When spoken to regarding the performance driver M Hill advised that the gelding had proved difficult to steer on several occasions throughout however notwithstanding this he was disappointed with the performance. A post-race Veterinary examination revealed the gelding to have some muscle soreness. Stood down pending a Veterinary clearance prior to resuming.
